  2. i told him when i did it i'd do his hair, maybe some purple eyebrows, some red earlobes.... you know, some tasteful spray make-up, something pretty... he's still thinkin'.... ;)

  3. ya' know..... i been trying to be civil here, but first the strain screw, now this shizzit....:sight: ..... i think it must be the cold up there that affects y'alls brains.... just talkin' to darren, he wants his gun painted like a zebra.... :surprise: .... and y'all have to be nice to Joey, he doesn't quite yet dig the overall twisted sickness that resides in the revo forum....

Darren wants it coated since it was soiled and make unclean, or so I heard. Eww..... :surprise:

yeah, that was wrong.. :surprise:... you never know where that thing's been....

  5. we used to do a 'he-man' match at the 'hernando sportsmans club' in central fla., where we used to shoot iron sight rules, and alot of us shot M-1's. it was a pretty popular match, ask the 'Mickster', he was the boss(if that was possible with us monkeys)..... it was alotta fun, my M-1 is really one of my favorite guns. they are really beautiful things. real accurate w/that long sight radius...... if'n alot of guys sign up for this WW2 class, it'll be a great match, real competitive, cause' your equipment ain't gonna mean that much, it'll be up to you!....

  6. There will be a World War 2 division, Garand, Pump shotgun--6+1, 1911--8+1. Havent worked out all the details yet...I'm shooting it this time.

    Well heck, I have a 870 pump, a .45 pistol, a 1943 Garand, and a bunch of .30-06 mil surp.

This just might be too much fun.

you guys do the 'WW2' division, and i'll definitely be there.... probably bring a couple of other florida boys too.... this sounds like real fun..... 400 yd. steel w/M-1's.... yeehaw.....bring it....let's see who's got the cojones and can hit w/o 60 rd. mags and optics.....

  7. i'm sorry, but i don't get it.... obviously, JM is a southern gentleman beyond reproach, but the others? we got otis the town drunk that has a problem w/his pants, some slimy lawyer that works for 'dewey, cheatem, and howe', and i don't really know the sweeney guy, but if he hangs out w/these guys, well, i'm callin' guilt by association. it ain't gonna be pretty.....

  8. WHAT??--they cancelled the match?? That's a real shame.

Hope they understand there's always a wave of applications that pours in the last couple weeks. Every time we've run a special match at OOPS, it's been like that. Hope they didn't panic too early.

now here's a voice of reason...argued w/otis about this for awhile this afternoon, but i argue w/otis about pretty much everything, so.... well, we don't really argue about beer.... i'm definitely in, just a deadbeat and haven't sent the $$$, but the last post here sez the deadline is 8/2, so i ain't feeling so guilty. my point is, is it really dead? or does it just smell like otis?......

  9. Remember last year in Iowa seeing Cliff and Dave in the corn??????

This year you may see them in Michigan..

after getting mentioned in the premier announcement, i guess i gotta go, and yeah, otis talked me into it.... gotta get the revos out....and practice my 12oz. curls....

  10. Hope no one thought I was attacking the Stage 6 RO in my previous post - not my intention. He and his son were doing a fine job of cranking shooters through the stage. My only consternation comes from being told I can't stack shots or will get my ass DQed (not penalized mind you, but DQed) - only to see the eventual match winner stacking shots on every strong side port.

I'm with Alamo - I shot a total of two extra shots strong side and felt guilty doing even that. A shooter should never be made to feel that constrained in placing shots on target in a 3-gun match. Ended up finishing with a miss which I probably could have avoided had I used the "Taran method".

This is an instance where better stage design could have forced a shooter to fire weak-side instead of the artificial "do it the way the RO tells you to do it" stage description we got. A suggestion - design the stages so shooters don't engage the same targets from both strong and weak side and you'd never have to worry about shot stacking.

+1....sometimes i wonder where half of the people on this forum learned to read....people always seemed to answer questions not asked....one of the reasons i seldom argue here, or talk of factual things...those there know what happened....the world still goes on....i'm out.....

  11. Stage 6 perhaps resembled IDPA in the description.. and it might have made more "sense" to have it 2 shots per shoulder limited.. but by the same thought process (IDPAish) the first run could have been engaging the targets and the second with the other shoulder be "insurance shots"....?

I had a 30 rounder in the gun and took 2 per target left and 3 going back right handed. Worked out to an empty mag at the end of the stage. RO/SO was cool with that with all the shooters I saw do it that way in my group.

IMO it was not stacking as there was no limitation in the stage description and the match was not set up with any particular shooting sports rule book. If it is within the stated and written stage brief.... No problem.

(In your stage planning and breakdown) Keep an open mind and (in your shooting) let it all hang out. smile.gif

and mentioning 'IDPA'(i don't practice anymore...) and outlaw 3-gun in the same post should get you at least 5 procedurals before the first shot is fired at the next good 3-gun......

  12. why does everybody gotta get personal right away? i ain't getting personal... i don't know the RO, but i liked him just fine. his son was a fine young man, and i complemented him on it.... this ain't about personal, it's about the equal enforcement of rules, and properly stating them. it took me about 2 seconds to figure out that i could stack this one, but i was told i couldn't, and saw others gigged for the same. i threw a mike because of an incorrectly called shot, that i coulda not had if'n i'd stacked. obviously, not all were gigged, and that's not correct. i saw some inconsistencies in the walk thru's in the match, and i'm bitchin' after seeing one immortalized on 'youtube'.... YMMV...

  13. the reason i got hissy is that one guy in the squad before us obviously stacked 4 on the way back strong side(i know, taran only did 3....), and the RO gigged him some procedurals. the no stacking point was clearly made during the walk thru's i was witness to, so i didn't do it. it was an obvious advantage. i now know betterer... just don't dig supersquad rules, it ain't right.

  14. Here's a couple more videos. These are both stellar. Taran, Stage 6, Larue 2010

yeah, stellar, but.... how come taran gets to obviously stack 3 on the way back strong side? yeah, i know, he saw a bad shot on each barrel....right....i'm sorry, but i'm callin' BS....don't get me wrong, it was a great match, i had a gas, and i'm gonna be back next year, but that stage shoulda been virginia count, and i wouldn't be making this post. i just saw alot of loose stuff, some happened to me, and not just on 6.....i'm just sayin'.....

  15. i just took a motorcycle trip out to 'larue 3-gun' in texas last week. went thru my old stomping grounds New Orleans. one of the first things i saw when entering Chalmette was 'Mr. Binky's Adult Emporium"..... i'm thinkin' we gotta contact 'Mr. Binky' himself, and he could shed some light on cliffy's thing w/the gun belt and the chick underwear. maybe even make some $$$ on it.....

  16. thank ya' very much, in my best elvis tone.....kinda undr the influense of 'knob kreek' rightt now, so... i'm tryin' my bes t...kliffy can pizz off...i'm 54 and all you can bring it....i ain't done yet....an that hot tub shizzit iz just that....pizz off....carmonkey too...and his boy iowa boy darrin....

fluff my azrz..........iz there any body elze that i haven't offendednded ....sandooo too...

  17. i just don't understand the hate.......i mean, the hit was obviously inconclusive, thus the tremendous controversy that ensued. during the melee, targets not scored by the RO were pasted (this is an factual, educated opinion, i just took the George Jones class, so i know!....), and i was correctly offered a re-shoot. it was definitely my defining moment of the match, where i regained my mojo after a multitude of transgressions on the first 6 stages. i smoked the re-shoot, totally pissing 'Otis' off. then i cleaned the next stage, 2 texas stars and more steel, therby throwing 'Otis' off his game to the extent that he missed the 2 texas stars about 10 times..... there were piles of moonclips at his feet at the 'unload and show clear' signal...... really ugly......Otis' boning of the texas stars actually enabled 'Smitty' to coast to an easy victory in the Revo class. really, in all fairness, i think it's 'Smitty' that should be buying me the beers......

  18. heartfelt congratulations for a victory well earned! the return of 'el conquistadorrr'.......and in Vegas no less!!!! but i gotta ask?? did he behave himself at the awards ceremony? was there an IDPA vest? i gotsta know?......

  19. First... I hope that's the sugar free stuff, cause the blood sugar roller coaster you'd be on otherwise is doing nothing for your shooting, either. If not that... I hope you're joking

If your scores are better when you feel "jacked up", you've got a hole in your mental game... lack of control and understanding over "level of arousal".

Then I drink a few beers after the match with the guys to bring me back down... LOL

Do you think the fact that you need to counteract the stimulant with a depressant should be a clue about anything??? :surprise::lol:

Yes, I'm mostly on the sugar free stuff. The sugar messes me up. Not the caffeine.

Remember, I qualified my comments by admitting that I'm a caffeine addict! Higher doses of caffeine do NOT negatively effect my fine motor skill like trigger control. They in fact improve mental acuity... the ability to focus. I feel focus is very important in this game. Blocking out distracting task-irrelevant cues. I shoot smaller groups without caffeine, but I make quicker adjustments and focus better with it. I feel, and have demonstrated FOR ME... I shoot/score better.

I fully understand (and teach for a living) performance enhancing substances, levels of arousal, and anxiety, and their impacts on sport. Some athletes perform better at higher levels of arousal. Some do better at lower levels. It's called "Trait Anxiety", and has a lot to do with skill level, self efficacy, and the personality of the athlete. "Optimal Performance State" (aka The Zone) is achieved at a moderate level of arousal, where the athlete is aroused enough to focused intensely on "task relevant cues", but no so highly aroused as to be "over-psyched". If the arousal level is too low, the athlete will under perform (like losing a game against a lesser opponent because of a loss of focus). If the athlete is too highly aroused, fine motor skills can be lost (like a golfer hitting a wedge 20 yards past the green on 18 on Sunday...).

I use caffeine to find a balance for MY personal Optimal Performance State.

The comment about drinking beers after the match are in jest. We have a clubhouse with a stocked bar that our members enjoy. It is in no way a required stop to "un-medicate" my system. At 240+ lbs... I have a 2-beer post match limit!

Dan is right. Caffeine is a banned substance by the IOC. But I believe at levels equivalent to 6-8 cups of coffee. Similar for pro cyclists, and triathletes.

I've also tried 5-hour energy. Not before shooting, but (BIG MISTAKE) before playing golf. I hit the ball fine, but couldn't putt!

It's 12:25 am... The caffeine from my 6pm match is wearing off.... Time to crash!

    Jeff

alright duder, that's it......next tuesday, you gotta pizz in the cup! B)

  20. after shooting that sight tracker, go back to the sight on the slide gun, see what you think.......i like revos too, and it definitely reminds me of that. lot to be said for seeing more sight.........

  21. they really ain't that heavy if'n you chop the slide enough. i mean, i saw the STI one at the 'shot show', now that was heavy.... the whole concept is heavy barrel, light slide, and then it feels good. i wanna chop my slide even more, actually......gonna do it soon.......i mean, full bull barrel, slabside slide, long dust cover 5" guns ain't exactly light......
