  1. I just came home from a match where a shooter (no it wasn't me) was DQed for an AD but I'm not sure this was the right ruling. What happened was the shooter was drawing his pistol and as he was raising it to eye level, it fired early, before he was ready to shoot. The round went down range safely towards the target. The shooter was surprised and paused a moment and the RO stopped him and called it an AD. Shooter was DQed. This doesn't seem to me to be an AD as the round didn't hit within 3m of the shooter and it didn't travel in a unsafe direction. It also doesn't seem to be Unsafe Gun Handling because he was in the process of engaging a target and wasn't moving. Can anyone clarify this for me?

  2. I'm finally classified, D class in Production. I just started shooting IPSC last Oct. and am really enjoying it. I'm trying to practice dry firing regularly and using tips and hints from this forum to improve my shooting. With a little more practice I think I can make C class and from there on the challenge really starts. Thanks to everyone here for the help.

  3. As I posted earlier, I own a XD-9 and I now have well over a 1000rds through it with not one proplem. That's using WalMart "Value" pack 9mm ammo. They may be ugly, but they sure do shoot well. A great gun for the money.

  4. Another vote for the XD-9. Good trigger, good grip (especially for small hands), and my favorite, the ambidextrous mag release. I've got over a 1000rds through mine with not a single problem. Most of that was Winchester "Value pack" 9mm from Walmart. 100rds for $10.96. One more thing, the XD's can shoot lead and reloads where as that isn't recommended for stock Glocks.

  5. I have a XD-9 that I just started shooting IPSC with. I've have about 500 rounds through it with no problems. The Winchester "Value" packs from Walmart make ammo very affordable at $11/100rds. I recommend the gun to anyone looking for a sturdy affordable pistol. There are many companies starting to sell accessories for the XD's and there is at least one gunsmith doing work on them. 6. I'm just starting IPSC with a stock Springfield Armory 38 super. As I understand, I'll be shooting in the minor class because of the 40cal. rule. Since the 38 super can be loaded to a much higher PF, is there anything to be gained by loading higher than the minimum required to make minor? The gun has no comp. so that won't be a factor. Also, how much of a cushion do you give yourself in being above the minimum power required? If minor is 125 how close do you cut it?
