  1. I'm new to reloading and I just purchased a used SD(B?), I think is the older version because my powder measure uses springs. I had to set it up from scratch since the old owner had it in storage. I have it setup for 9mm, but I'm not 100% sure if the setup is correct.

Should the shell plate touch the powder funnel even if there is no case on Station 2?

Which parts should I lube and with what?

    Thanks in advance

P.S. I can't send it to dillon since I live outside the U.S., so that's out of the question.

    Rafa,

I know someone who makes frequent trips in and out of Guatemala. Could we be of assistance?

  2. Lloydpt,

Do you use different recoil springs when you switch barrels?

If so, which weights do you prefer with which calibre?

I have a "large" frame Tanfoglio in 45 and a "narrow" frame in 9mm.

Thanks to all for confirming my suspicions!

  3. I had a similar problem with a 41 AE magazine not engaging the slide lock in my narrow frame MAPP1.

To correct this issue, I built up the area of the slide lock that engages the magazine with some JB Weld (epoxy) and beveled it down so the 41 AE round would clear the built up area.

You can get an idea of what's going on by removing the slide, replacing the slide lock pin and inserting an empty magazine.

The original part that engages the magazine looks something like this:

The modified part looks something like this when viewed from the rear:

    Hope this helps.

  4. Have you priced new production ammo? It was running right around $18.00 a box of 50 the last time I looked. It's kind of an odd ball round to reload. Only steel dies available and the bullet is not a popular size for a handgun round. Hornady made XTP's and Sierra has some in the right size but that was all I could find at first when I bought some. I did run into some Remington surplus rifle bullets that were 85 grains or something like that. It's just not a mainstream caliber.

Lee has pistol bullet molds with a diameter of .311 inches that might work in this application.

  5. Does anyone here know what it actually takes to convert a Witness from 10MM to 40 S&W?

I inquired to Tanfoglio and they said it takes the whole nine yards (slide, barrel, springs and magazine). Somehow, I have trouble understanding why the slide would need to be replaced too.....headspace perhaps?

I don't know about the Witness, but the Witness Limited will use the same mags. It may take a little adjustment on the release, but I know a number of folks who shoot 10mm mags in their 40 Limited pistols.

As far as the slide, it could be a the weight or fit of the barrel, but I think if you could find a parts list it would be interesting to see if the part numbers are different.

I would certainly think a lighter spring should take care of the weight difference (if that is the difference). Somehow I think Henning would know the differences. I am pretty sure he has a 10mm Hunter and I know he has a number of Limited 40 pistols! I imagine changing the entire upper is the SAFEST bet.

Would a barrel for a Jericho 941 in 40 S&W work? I've seen these for less than US$35.

  6. My wife got me a new "small frame" Tanfoglio made by ARMSCOR and imported by Rock Island.

My local gun store was able to order it through their distributor, AcuSport.

Ask for MAP-1FS or MAP-9FS for steel frame 9mm full size.

Another option is MAPP-1FS or MAPP-9FS for polymer frame 9mm full size.

    Hope this helps.

  7. So, will lead bullets cast in the Lee TL 401 175 SWC mold work in a Tanfoglio chambered for 40 s&w or 10mm?

What about .452 inch cast lead bullets in a large frame Tanfoglio in 45 ACP?

Has anyone "slugged" any of their Tanfoglios to see what size they really are?

    Thanks!
