  1. I would also like to have a 9mm barrel threaded for a suppresssor. Do any companies make a drop in extended threaded barrel for Witness pistols?

If you can't find a longer threaded barrel, try a threaded barrel extension.

  2. Just got back from the range, everything works fine, thanks for all the help, Dave,

Cool. I didn't know all is needed for caliber swap is barrel.

I've also done this to a 40mm upper with a 9mm barrel and some 9mm magazines.

Some swaps work better than others. Depends on the frame/extractor among other factors. For example, going from 45 ACP to 9mm probably won't work...

  3. I'm also looking at how to get to major (reasonably) with the 9mm GT. From what I've read also going major with the ported barrel is not attractive. I called EAA to see if they have .38 super barrels but they don't. It looks like reaming the barrel is problematic (from the reamer standpoint). Another thought is to drill out the comp holes on the factory barrel and maybe add a couple of popples on the barrel but not the entire line of them.

Interested in this discussion for sure.

Numrich has a 4.5" 38 Super barrel and a compensated 9x21 barrel listed on their site.

  4. Sorry for the thread reserection, but I just found a source for barrels chambered in 7.62 x 25 Tokarev at Indianapolis Ordnance

This is a new 8" STEN MK2 barrel made in 7.62 x 25 TOK. The barrel is made from 4140 tool steel and is button rifled. Chambered and in the white. A standard STEN magazine can be modified to accept this cartridge. No modifications to the magazine well are needed. This is a GCA 18 U.S.C. 922r compliant part.

My idea is to follow the process outlined above, and to extend the barrel insert so it can be fitted with a threaded extension. With the stepped chamber at one end and the threaded extension at the other, the barrel sleeve should be locked in place.

    Happy Hardware Hacking!

  5. I was thinking about the barrel sleeves today and had a brain storm. As long as we are turning down barrel blanks and rechambering them for exotic rounds, why not cut them a little bit longer and add a threaded extension for compensators or suppressors?

So, if the sleeve is stepped at the chamber, the threaded extension would lock the sleeve in place.

  6. I hadn't heard of this cartridge yet, but have been interested in using 5.56 brass for 9x23mm winchester loads for a long time, and really like the idea of also having a smaller caliber cartridge I can make brass out of 5.56 for and use in a Tanfo. The fact that it out-performs 5.7 really seems like icing on the cake. Shoot, just the idea of being able to make 300 blk out, 9x23, 22tcm and 5.56 from the same cheap, shot-once brass makes me a little giddy

You can also make 7.62x25 Tokarev out of 5.56 brass.

  7. Armscor says they are developing conversion kits for 1911s and other firearms. Glock is the first out the gate. They are licensed to build a version of the narrow frame Tanfoglio called the MAP/MAPP. So, I expect to see Tanfoglio barrels chambered in 22 TCM eventually :-)

  8. Any updates on this?

Are we talking the .357 Sig, or the whole conversion collection in general. The .357 Sig is a bust, I can't get a hold of the guy. As for the rest of the kits, I am just waiting for some good ones to pop up on GB.

I have a few ideas for getting a .357 Sig and a .22TCM conversion... but nothing is set in stone yet...

Keep us posted on any new sources for .357 Sig, 7.62x25 Tok or .22 TCM barrels :-)

  9. There is a pad at the sides of the breech face which needs to be filed to fit, I don't have a picture of a CZ barrel, but it in the same place as this EAA barrel so you get the idea:

I found a youtube video on the subject:

  10. I'd prefer to bore out one of the narrow frame .41 AE barrels from CDNN Cheaper Than Dirt. Armscor has announced a Glock 22 conversion kit at the shot show. They also sell Tanfoglio pistols. So, we can wait for them to do the right thing or take matters into our own hands :-)

  11. I don't know how true this is, but someone mentioned to me that Schuman used to make P9 barrels and was thinking of making barrels again for Tanfoglio.

I'm on a quest to build a .22 TCM barrel.

Nealio, if Schuman won't make us .22 TCM barrels for our Tanfoglios, how about someone making us some .22 TCM barrel inserts for the .41 AE barrels from CDNN?
