  1. We have added quick-change sight bases to our product line. These are 1/4" square by 1 1/2" long, shorter than the factory sight bases, and without the spring detent that can allow you to lose your sight if it is inadvertently pressed against an obstacle.

To change the sight, screw the front set screw out halfway and swap! A 6-48 mounting screw is included, but this base does not come with a sight.

These will be $45 each, plus shipping via insured USPS Small Flat Rate Box.

Thanks Warren...looks you you have your hands into everything!  Great  Products!  Let me dwell on it...that new holster technology looks a bit  intimidating to me 🙂

It's actually Tracy who posts under this name. 😃 Warren's Toolguy, but thanks!

It's not all that bad. We give instructions for modifying the Hogue holster, and it's a really secure holster. The only thing you have to remember on the line is half-lock, not full lock. Although if you do fully lock it, it's just a bit harder to push down on the lock to release your revolver.

  3. As far as I know, there is no holster test any longer. Not in the time I've been shooting, anyway.

The Hogue Powerspeed is a semi-auto holster with excellent retention, but we make a revolver adapter for it. The Hogue has a half-lock and a full-lock position. The half-lock is ideal for when you're on the line, ready to shoot, because you push it down with your thumb when you're drawing. It's pretty automatic.

I've tested an unloaded revolver in the Hogue with our adapter, upside-down (over a bed, just in case 🙂) and have shaken it hard. I've never had a revolver come loose from it.

Our adapter will work for any revolver from a barrel length of 4" to 8 3/8", and for any caliber, including .22.

Here's a link to our post about it, and a link to our website products page. The holster modification kit is at the bottom of the page.

  4. Martin,

We don't have a standard hole pattern for our shrouds. You will have to get withthe gunsmith who installed your SSBM to see what hole pattern he used, or have it measured.

  5. I know this is an old topic, but we recently got a request for an Improved Ramp fiber optic front sight. This is just a post to let you guys know we no longer carry Improved Ramp sights.

  6. Alan,

Just have the shooter send us the Prone Pad, and we'll swap it out (no charge) for one of the newer design, which has a larger hole. Shipping will take about 2-3 days from when we get the old one (USPS small flat rate usually takes that long from here to there).

  7. L frame. K frames and L frames have the same grip frame. K frames' bores are closer to the yoke than L frames, which means there is less steel on the bottom of the barrel. This makes it likely they will split over time.

I had a K frame open gun for a few years. It finally split so I couldn't open the cylinder on the Mover at the Cameron Cup. I was lucky the frame hadn't split, too. Warren and I have seen that happen even on PPC guns running bunny fart loads.

  9. After a long wait, we now have a new stock of Prone Pads. We have both the original and the large-hand variety in stock. Both are $90 + $8 shipping (USPS small flat rate, insured).

Get 'em now, while we have them, by e-mailing sales at protocalldesign.com.

Thanks, and good luck at the Cup!

  10. Most folks have been ordering the .100 x .250 pin-on sight to replace the factory front sight for the 929. I believe it's about .025 taller than the factory front sight.

Warren is going to add a .100 x .225 pin-on and classic sight to the line-up, but we don't have those in stock, yet. Call me at 913-730-0533, or e-mail me at sales @ protocalldesign.com to make your order. I'll need shipping address, phone number, e-mail, sight specs (width, height, and fiber color), and I'll need you to tell me how you want to pay. Please DO NOT send credit card numbers over e-mail, as that is not secure, and someone could grab that info as the e-mail travels from you to me. If you want to pay by credit card, we can do that part over the phone.
