  3. Living on ~600 acres in Kentucky I have found that for most critters the 12 gauge and .22 are all that is NEEDED. But, if she gets the house this is a perfect opportunity to NEED a new toy of some sort....say a 50BMG?

My favorite though is still my AR. It has fallen off the four wheeler, been dropped in the mud and I don't worry a bit

BTW, if you have a .22 rifle, CBs are perfect for small yard pests

Good luck and enjoy the piece and quiet!!

  4. What John [now at S&J] told me years ago was that both the G34 and G35 slides are lightened internally by Glock to get down near the slide weights of the G22 and G17 respectively.

He made several open Glocks out of G34's and kept seeing them develop slide cracks, right near the factory lightening. This doesn't seem to happen very often on the few open G35's out there because they aren't lightened as much.

G17 and G22 slides are both pretty solid, so most of the Open Glocks are now on G17 slides. In my opinion, my own Open G17 was a little light in the slide, but not a big problem if you use enough recoil spring. That's the catch - a lot of guys don't want to stay above 15 lbs and may develop peening in the unlocking areas of the barrel and ejection port of the slide.

Probably the ideal would be a 9mm breechface cut into a slide as heavy as a G22 slide - which doesn't exist.

What you DON'T want to do is shoot a 9mm conversion barrel in a 40 slide. That's been tried, with mostly all bad results.

Having built my own Ti-comped, Doctor-sight open glock I can tell you that you will eliminate your headaches and have a competitive, reliable, fun gun if you just buy from S&J. Save up your $$ and do it all in one shot.
