  1. Fantastic match! RO on stage one had logged 17.1 miles on his pedometer by the time we got there...another there was doing push ups between shooters! Those guys were nuts! That being said...Im truly grateful for their service.

There were burpee penalties imposed if an RO forgot to return the ammo can to the start line. All in all, we logged over 54 miles over the three days. We had a ball and it was our pleasure to give back to the shooting community that's been so good to us.

  2. My MOA M3000 will not cycle reliably on anything less than 3 dram, 1 1/8 oz, 1250 fps for birdshot. I use the Federal/Walmart bulk pack for practice, and get about 5% failure with it. After some Federal Top Gun failures I'm only going to run AAs at the above specs. They have never hiccuped for me.

For slugs, it runs Speed Lawman at 1 oz/1200 fps all day long. It runs Lawman buck at 1145 fps without issue also.

  3. For those of you who actually shot the match, did you like having the slugs in an area and the buck in an area and the birdshot in an area?

As my squad's token amateur, it was very new - guy friendly, and helped avoid the gotcha/DQ factor. That said, some select load or candy - cane loads would be fun but very challenging for some of us.

  4. . I'm not much for self-promotion, but I was one of only 3 shooters in the match that shot stage 7 without a MIKE. Of course, it took me almost 2x as long as Taran to do it. And that was after coming up with 5 MIKES on stage 14- which was our first stage of the match. I guess I got them all out of the way early.

Funny how we learn so quickly. Our squad started on 7 and acquired a LOT of slug misses. After seeing the damage a slug miss does to your score we all reduced the % of misses when we shot 14. I have vowed never to shoot IPSC shotgun again but if I forget and sign up next time pan am comes to town. Remind me how costly slug misses are please.
This was also where I learned the value of having my front sight secured by more than a single screw. 10 rounds in and it was 30 degrees left. Now to figure out how to pin it or something. When scoring occurred I thought my name was "Mike"! I so should have slowed down and aimed carefully down the rib...

Mike Cyrwus at Accurate Iron Does it on every one of his race gun packages.

Thanks, and thanks again for all the help. I'm still digesting lessons learned because there was so much takeaway for me from this match.

I'll give Accurate Iron a call. I have a pretty tight timeline for turnaround between matches until after Blue Ridge so I might have to wait until October for a permanent fix.

  6. Does the 1320mm length apply to outlaw division?

Good question! My Benelli M2 with a 12 round Nordic tube didn't fit the box last time. I had the mid size butt pad and needed the small one to fit. Since I didn't have it with me I had to use an 11rd tube.

I would bet money that a 12rd Stoeger won't make it because that stick is so long. Heck an 11rd M3000 might not fit either.

Well my 10 round Stoeger should be good to go, then. Considering this is my first shotgun - only match, it's already been a bit of a learning experience.
