Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the info, Josh....and others. I really appreciate it. Hopefully see you at the range sometime soon.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Of course I'll consult my doctor. That's why it's been 4 1/2 months since surgery to date and I'm just now starting to consider such activities. My heel has healed very well. Now I'm dealing with the residual effects of tendonitis in the achilles and other tendons in the foot from being immobilized for so long. I'm just now walking without assistance of crutches and a cane. So, of course, I'll consult the doc. But at the same time, I'm the one who feels what's going on. The doc just sees pictures. There's nothing in the pics that is of concern and I feel I'm ready to get going again. Again, thanks for the responses. Just thought I'd clarify a little where I'm at. Nathan
  3. I had surgery to repair a broken heel in May (11 screws and a plate.....I know, I know....how do they get that much metal in that little bone!) I've been on the long road to recovery since. I just started being able to walk without the assistance of a cane or crutches, but I still have a pretty good limp and I can't run yet. Also, uneven terrain requires more careful movement. That said, I'm wondering if I could begin to start shooting again and what an RO would think if I were at the range. I would like to shoot matches to gain experience. If that meant that I have to limp station to station and blow my time off the chart, I'm ok with that. I don't need to win. I just want to practice and improve my shooting skills regardless of what the clock says. So, what do you think? Dive in or wait it out? If it helps clarify where I'm at, this was a skydiving injury and I think I'll be back in the air in a month or so. So, it's getting better. I'm almost at the point where I feel I could run (with somewhat of a pronounced limp).
  4. Hey all! I'm relatively new to the KC Area, military stationed at Fort Leavenworth, living in Lansing, to be exact. I took up practical shooting during a recent tour to Iraq in a club, East Baghdad Action Shooters. We shot production, cause that's what we had, Army-issue Berettas. This was my first experience with practical shooting. I'm not a novice shooter, but my experience lies heavily on the hunting side. That's what I've grown up doing and will always continue. I got into practical shooting, mainly on the encouragement of an avid shooter that started the club, but mostly because I realized how little I know and that I wanted to gain experience and have some fun doing it. IT DIDN"T DISAPPOINT! Anyway, I bought a S&W M&P, mags, holster...the setup, here on the forums. I've been out to shoot it here and there but have never been involved with a club or shot a match since I left Baghdad in January. I can feel the rust piling up and there's still not a whole lot of skill and experience for it to pile up onto....lol. So, I'm interested in getting involved with a club and shooting from time to time. After doing a search and checking out what I could find in the KC area, it looks like the Bullet Hole is a pretty good club and has regular matches. Does anybody know of anything else around or is that the place to go? For right now, I just want to get used to shooting production, learn and improve skills, and have some fun. Thanks in advance for your responses.
