Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Previously I had alway used bullets with no canalure. I used the setback method to move the bullet seating depth back from the lands. However, I am now loading with bullets with canalures. It is so much easier to just crimp at the canalure rather than computing new setback distances. Is this an acceptable method?
  2. Until now, I have always reloaded with bullets without a canalure. I set it up so that the bullet is set back from the lands. Is this neccisary when reloading with a bullet with a canalure? Can I just seat them so that the brass grabs the bullet at the canalure?
  3. I found an answer by contacting Hornaday. Max loads as follows: ,280 rem w. 139 gr. Hornaday SST is 55 gr. IMR 4831 equals 3000 fps .300 Win Mag. 180 gr. Hornaday SST., 73 gr. IMR 4831 gives 2900 fps.
  4. thanks, I tried that link.... no information regarding ANY Hornaday bullets Anyone have the Hornaday reloading manual? That should provide the info.
  5. I would like to use Hornaday 180gr sst in my .300 win mag., I like to use IMR 4831. Can anyone give me the minimum and maximum powder loads. Same question re Remington .280 with 139 gr Hornaday sst, and IMR 4831, what are min and max powder loads? Thanks
