  1. JD1979,

I feel your pain.  The practice match and the scored match they used to have at Prado, as itchy mentioned, was great and is now greatly missed.  There is non-reactive steel, accuracy based, Virginia count match held at the Palm Springs Gun Club on the 4th Saturday of every month.  It's called the Speeding Zone II.  It's not a Bianchi match but offers several diverse gun handling challenges along with some challenging accuracy demanding stages as well.  Check it out if you get the chance.

    Cheers,

  2. Kimberkid,

Is the striker channel in Gun A clean and dry all the way up to the breech face?  Fouling and residue, as well as lube may be preventing the firing pin to travel as intended.  For Gun B, perhaps the engagement of the firing pin tang and trigger bar/cruciform is not sufficient for safe reset, causing doubling/tripling etc.  Could the pretravel/overtravel adjustments need tuning?

  3. LawDog, do they go into and then drop out of the chamber of the barrel from the pistol you will be firing them from? If so' you should be good to go. I haven't used Blue Bullets but if they are coated lead they probably are larger than .355, which is what your MG's are sized, and will not completely seat in your drop gauge.

  4. Michael, I've have not run across a case gauge made specifically to accommodate the issue of lead/coated bullets that measure larger than their jacketed counter parts. However, one could remove their barrel from their pistol and perform the kerplunk-drop check test in the chamber they will actually be using their ammo in.

  5. DenverDave, is it possible that your high primers are a result of debris on the press (ie. spent primers) not allowing the platform to bottom out enough for the primers to be seated? The good thing about it is it's an easy fix but can be frustrating if it's not caught right away.

  6. AF, if you still have the factory extended slide release on the pistol, any chance you're activating the slide release with your support hand as you're shooting? Has the pistol been taken apart recently and perhaps the slide release not properly reinstalled?

  7. Aircooled6racer,

It's worth it for the pistol owner to give Sig a ring and find out for sure. If the part is in stock, then they will be set. Else, they can work on another solution. Being without your X-5 is a bummer!

    Cheers,

  8. Aircooled6racer, same thing happened to my X-5 a few years back and Sig sent me a new one no charge, so check with them first and see if they can get you squared away. Else, like taadski mentioned Top Gun Supply is your best bet for Sig parts, provided they're in stock.

    Cheers

  9. Irdchaos,

I've got the X-5 competition model in 9mm. I wanted a pistol chambered in 9mm for some accuracy games that are held at a couple of the clubs I frequent. The main issue I have with the pistol is with the extractor problems I've had since owning it. Initially, the pistol ran like a top. However, after about 5K through the pipe the extractor hook broke off of the extractor. I called sig and they sent me a new one that I installed. I was unaware that this part had been considered the Achilles heal of this particular model, but since it happened to me I started to become enlightened that many X-5's have suffered the same fate. Although, the new part they sent works it is not 100% reliable, like the original was until it crashed and burned. The other issue I have is that over the course of the last few years, I have noticed that instead of grouping nice tight consistent groups, the pistol will throw the first manually cycled round several inches low. However, the rest of the rounds in the mag will be grouped. Currently, the pistol is at Gray Guns for Bruce to do that magic that he does, and get it back to working like intended. Had I known about the extractor issue before I made the purchase, I may have went another route.

  10. galt11, is this issue happening with all the rounds that you are loading or just an occasional round? You mentioned you are using random range brass, so is it possible that some of the brass you have collected is unable to be properly resized due to previous overuse and or abuse? Have you tried loading with new or once fired brass?
