  1. Good news and clarification.....Ohio Governor signed H.234 into law doing, among other things, recognizing other States CHL's even if no reciprocity exists. It also "Brings Ohio’s definition of “automatic firearm” in line with the federal definition, limiting it to only any firearm designed or adapted to fire a succession of cartridges with a single function." Have a nice day all.

  2. presently i have 3 automatic 9mm, i want to get one more and possibly sell one, let me say what i have now, a like new Berreta 92FS purchased 20yrs ago, a Ruger SR9C about 3 mos old and a new Glock 17 gen 4 about a month old mainly i do target shooting, looking to see if i can step up i accuracy, i haven't shot the 92FS in 20yrs, been only shooting Ruger and the Glock i am shooting the Glock a tad better at the moment, so i went to the local gun shop looking, the owner shows me 3 9mm's the Walters PPQ, Walthers PPx and the H&K VP9, i have been hearing good things on the Walthers, but then i picked up the PPQ i noticed there was slop when i grabbed the muzzle end side to side neither my Glock or my Ruger has any, so the Walthers turned me off on looking any further, the H&K VP9 was tighter. would these guns be considered moving up or going backwards on what i have now, i noticed all 3 of the guns i looked at today seem to have a high feeling like what i am saying the center of the barrel seems higher from the grip compared the Ruger and the Glock, would this be a issue with muzzle flip to get back on target as compared to the lower profile gun, any input would be appreciated, if none of these choices would be an improvement over what i have now, suggest something other i can look into, my next choice was going to be a CZ75.

Sorry Chet. None of the firearms you mentioned are available the the general public in Auto. Semi-auto yes. Sorry. It's like calling magazines...CLIPS. makes me ears bleed. :surprise:

  3. It's all part of the game. Some of the folks I've shot with (in IDPA) actually don't even carry concealed. For the most part, you get out of the game(s) what you put in. IDPA, USPSA, PASS etc are all games unless someone is shooting back BUT the folks who shoot the games are infinitely better shooters (in all ways) than the folks who make it to the range once, twice a year.

Yea, yea, a little off topic but it's Saturday morning and my coffee told me to type this.

  4. I've grown tired of "I've heard" or "it's coming". Glock missed the marketing mark by not offering a single stack 9mm comperable to the old Kahr K9 which was nicely concealable. IF Glock is planning a concealable single stack 9mm the only thing their procrastination is doing is allowing other companies, who already offer such, to sink their hooks deeper into the market. Shame on Glock for being short sighted.

  5. I have a Glock 34 Gen 3 and have NO experience with gen 4's. That said, I think that, unless it comes with 4-5 mags (preferably 17 rounders) $525 seems a little high priced unless (as someone said above) shipping is included. If shipping is not included then, to me, $425 - $475 seems a more realistic price. But then opininons are like backsides...everyones got one and they all stink.

  6. Glocks are good firearms. Sigs are good firearms, Brownings are good firearms, 1911's / 2011's are better than good guns, Grudgingly..Barettas (sp) are good guns (list in NOT exhaustive). As long as you stay with a good gun mfg you will be sufficiently pleased. I came from the old gun of the month club idea. Now I'm a, "Beware the man who owns but one gun for he probably knows how to use it". Glock 34's and 35's used to come with extended mag releases. They stopped doing that with the Gen 4's? Odd.

  7. Word is the single stack 9mm G43 should be out in the next year. I think it will be announced at SHOT 2015 and be available by April.

    What do you think?

First...we'll see.....Second...Good things come to those who wait. :eatdrink:

  8. Physiologically, the carbon monoxide in smoke (specifically tobacco smoke), bonds 200x more readily to the bloods hemoglobin than does Oxygen. This strongly suggests that smoking actually moves a person toward oxygen starvation. That said, the human body has incredible abilities to adapt to what we do to it. If you smoke and smoking has the effect of calming you as opposed to not smoking making you more tense then it would seem to follow that smokeing, when needed to calm nerves, is not immediately detrimental. Obviously for long term health, people are best served to not smoke.....EVER.

  9. With respects to coffee and hydration I defer to a dietician I know and trust completely..My wife. Yes she is a college educated, state licensed Dietician employed as such in a major hospital in the Houston medical center. Believe it or not...Coffee is a one for one exchange for water (1, 8 oz. cup of water consummed = 1, 8 oz. cup cup of coffee consummed). Yes, it has diuretic effects but those effects tend to interrupt your shooting when your blader becomes full. Still, I rarely see any shooters hydrating, during a match, with coffee or coffee like drinks. Sports drinks that are reduced sugar or sugar free and have good potasium content are reasonable as are bananas and some of the energy trail mixes and one can never ignore water. For me, during a 6 stage local match here in Houston, I drink 4-6 bottles of fluid..2 g2's and 2-4 waters. I also eat an energy mix of nuts (obviously I'm not allergic), dried fruit and carob. For a match starting at 9am and ending about 1-2pm I don't get hungry, dehydrated nor suffer cramps. Oh, btw...did I mention that I drink 3-4 cups of coffee per day? For me that's quite a come down. When I was working night shift I drank 10-15 cups a night. sssssshhhhhaaaaakkkkeeeeeeeeeessssss.......meeeeeeeeeeee. nahhhhh. lol. Tango Charlie out.

  10. I wasn't aware IDPA had rules on allowable footwear also ???

But, then I've never shot an IDPA match and never will !!!

Then why are you posting in the IDPA area???

I have shot both sports and, while I've taken leave from USPSA, I do plan on shooting some USPSA local matches later this year. That means that I am more than vaguely familiar with the rules in both sports. By having that familiarity it makes it a little more credable to cross critique. If someone hasn't shot a sport and is commenting about it's rules it's criticism that rings more hollow than someone criticizing from within. They are certainly free to comment, but is the comment just opinionated or opinionated due to a more than passing familiarity? That's for each reader/poster to decide. Tango Charlie out!!!!!

  11. I strongly suspect that, if national CHL shooters poll was taken regarding concealment/no concealment shooting game and how it tracks with their opinions on concealed vs. open carry, you would find the majority of CHL shooters prefer concealment. If that is the case I would suspect that, in a shooting game, they would prefer to shoot what they carry and shoot from how they carry (in most cases). I like that the attempt is being made to blend the predominant shooting sports and am excited to try it on for size at next months shoot at Impact Zone.

  12. Always someone takin playful banter seriously. Me and Mr. 19 play just fine and, when necessary, Mr. 26 steps up to the plate. Eventually Glock will come out with a single stack 9mm. Mr. 19 and Mr. 26 tell me to be patient and my dreams will come true.

  13. I've handled and shot the Glock chambered in .380 (Glock 42). It handles pretty well and I was pleased enough with its accuracy BUT....IMHO....Glock needs to add a single stack 9mm of similar size but with greater grip purchase so the average persons pinky is not free floating. Would be a welcome addition, would not hurt the 42's sales and the added grip length would add stability to a light weight firearms recoil. I know this has probably been posted before but, sitting here with my morning cup of coffee, it was the thought of the morning I needed to get of my chest. Tango Charlie out.

They already did. Need the model number?

    It's the Glock

S&W M&P Shield. :P:P Points like one, has a trigger like one, feels like a Glock, only skinnier......

Now why would I want to step down to a shield......
