  1. Form talking to shooters and long hours of meditation I don't think how you break in is as important as barrel maintenance. A non custom barrel will be rough, therefore I don't clean my precision rifle after every time I shoot. I run some patches to get the powder out but because it is not a custom barrel I leave the copper to smooth out the barrel and clean ever 200-300 rounds. I find this helps accuracy for the long range game but 3 gun probably doesn't matter. YMMV. A little side story, friend of mine was breaking a factory barrel in and after pushing a patch through found a sliver of copper that was caught on a burr in his barrel. Not saying its a consistent occurence but worth keeping in mind.

  2. I am currently running a Savage 110 w/ a ER Shaw in 243. Since I got the original rifle from my grandmother it cost nothing. I put a choate super sniper stock on it and a mueller 4-16 scope. I would recommend a savage action for the ease of rebarreling if you want to go to a more exotic cartridge. The bolt throw is not as smooth as a remington but I think they are some of the better rifles on the market right now. I am getting .4" groups out of mine and once i get my load recipe down i think it will decrease. +1 on the McMillan stocked versions.

  3. Every 30 round PMag I have works great.

However, I have one 20rnd PMag I bought last week that won't lock the gun open when it's run dry. Works great when you hand-cycle, and all my other mags hold the bolt back, but this one brand new mag... *grrrrr*

Put 100 rnds through any magazine before you use it in a match. Even if you own a bunch like it that are 100%

Buddy of mine had the sme problem He was running a JP-15 and the magpuls wouldn'y lock back his bolt. He went to steel HK mags though

  4. With the whole Tiger Woods eye blink thing, when I shoot precision rifle, before each shot I do a slow, smooth blink, with the idea that it closely resembles a trigger pull and also settles me into a calm, steady mind set. I also do alot of visualizing on some small problems I have when sitting around idle.
