It never has done this in the past. Would it be caused by the mag feed lips being open a little bit too much so the follower is higher than it's supposed to be with last round still in mag?
-
Went to the range today to help my son sight-in his new G34. I am taking him to his first match next weekend. I took my STI Edge .40 along with some of the ammo I load for it to see that it still hits where it's pointed at. It is usually very reliable but as I have taken some time off shooting 3-gun I figured I'd shoot a few rounds at some paper and be sure about it. It was still on target but the slide locked back with 1-round left in the mag every time? Didn't matter which mag (I only brought 2) or how many rounds I loaded. It would shoot all but the last round and then slide locked back with last round sitting there ready to go. Hit the slide release and shoot the last round??? I'm totally confused! I guess I can still play with it if I drop mags with 2 or more still in them but not really happy about it at this point. Anybody know why this would be happening?

Wow! What a read! I love that book/story! Wish I could afford to pass em' out to everyone I think would read it!

I would go with the 550 for your 1st machine. I went that route and have never regretted it for one second. When/if you decide you want to go to another press you can get alot of your initial investment back selling it used.

I've had the same problem. Usually a dirty/micro-corroded powder funnel seems to be the culprit.

Wow! That was a good video, I like that little between the eyes camera. Thanks for the link. You first have to learn how to call your shots. This how to do that........

You're not alone. This economy has slowed down alot of people's shooting schedules. Hopefully things will be on the mend soon if you know what I mean. Dry-fire practice is free and some little target's,a garage and a timer can work wonders for anyone. Good luck to you.Well all,
It has been a rocky 3 seasons of IPSC/USPSA shooting thanks to our lovely government, this recession, and having a few extra mouths to feed and bodies to clothe sure made it difficult to be able to afford to shoot. But this time I have finally done it and have found myself finally classified in production. All be it I'm just a "D" class shooter, but I'm hoping with a lot more practice to hopefully make "C" class next year. I am going to be shooting my last match for the season this weekend and am really looking forward to putting something other than "Unclassified" on my score sheet.

Yeah, you got that right! Nothing like seeing the same group of guys haul everything out and set it up and the other group of guys who can't seem to pull themselves away from their little gum-flappin' session's long enough to help.Along with all the other great tips is to ensure that you have a solid supply/group of helpers. Nothing ends a club faster than not enough help.

Is is www.eagc.com?Go to the EAGC website and contact Alan Lavender and/or Mark Kauder. I'm sure they will share the hands-on practical aspects of what they had to go through to achieve what you are interested in doing.

I put one in my stock at one time to shoot off-hand plates at KCR. It helped me settle the rifle down. Did not bother me much as in that shoot you are not moving the gun much.

Good job! I remember the first time they handed me some cash at the clubhouse there. I made some money shooting!! Wanted to frame it. Of course when I figured lost work-time, fuel, camping fees, entry fees and ammo I realized, I lost money shooting. Oh well, it was all worth it.

I have had my CTR-02 for maybe 8-9 years now and love it! It is the best shooting rifle I've ever owned and I want another JP upper to put on a Bushmaster lower I've got sitting around here. Of course I will send the lower to JP for innard's.

Thank you for the kind word's! We'll see what happens?
Thanks John. Yeah, I've shot out at Sir Walter Raleigh but it's a long drive for me! Shoot at US Training Center and it's only 45 mins. away, can't beat that facility! I have a local range that has some guys that I think would have fun but I think they are maybe kind of intimidated to go to UST (Blackwater). Thought I'd try and help them get something going on their home turf. You are in a great State for USPSA !!!! Get 10 shooters that are USPSA members to sign the form and get it to our Section Coordinator, Bill S., to approve and then it will be sent to HQ. We just got one up and running at Caswell Ranch in North Central NC 2 months ago and are having a great time, best of luck and when gas prices get better we will drive out and join you, all the best, John

It's the do'ers like you that make the sport as great as it is, on behalf of the NC shooters, thanks

Thanks for the concise formula! Looks pretty straightforward. The quick version is...
- Get the packet from USPSA
- Get current USPSA members to sign the petition.
- Then get your Section Coordinator to sign off as well.
- Run 8+ monthly matches at your club per yr.
-
Thanks, I'll do that.Dave,
You might want to contact our new Area Director as well. Linda actually has put together a lot of helpful material in her years of mentoring Jack Suber, Lee King, and others in SC.

Hey B,D,
Go to the USPSA website, they have info on what is needed to start a USPSA club. Of course you can bypass all the USPSA stuff (rules; targets etc.) and run USPSA/IPSC type matches but there would be no benefit to USPSA and to the shooters that may want to get classified and shoot in a upper level match where USPSA membership is required.
You have the personality to get at least ten shooters to become USPSA members
So you have some work to do but remember how fun it is to shoot USPSA matches
One day I'll be out in your area and hopefully be able to shoot with you again.

I looked at the site but didn't see anything. Maybe I'll just call them.
Hope everything'g going good for you out there. What happened to Don T.? I never see him on results?
Why would you ever be coming out here?

Have been a general-contractor for 15 yrs. No more work! About to go to a school to drive OTR big-rig.
-
My vote is for the G34. I had a 34 and a 35, loved both of them but love the STI in Limited even more!
-
Wow! Sounds pretty good for your 1st match! Welcome!
-
I've had 2 DQ's. Happened in back to back matches and left me shaken for a little while. Keep goin'!

I have shot competitively for the last 15 yrs. Knob Creek, USPSA, 3-gun and Cowboy. Have a local range that has no action-pistol program but seems like they are ripe for someone to come in and start a program. I'd like to be that guy and steer them towards USPSA pistol matches. Simple stages at first but just get something going. How do I pursue this?
-
Awesome! I want a 550 like yours! Mine is a dinosaur compared to that.
-
I had a brand new STI Edge and sent it back to STI twice and then to a smith that was recommended by Dawson as they would not touch the gun cuz' I didn't get it from them. Still would not run reliably on Win. white-box. I was steamed! Then I moved to Maui and the first match I shot there was kindly told by the local-boys to try some longer stuff in it. I put a few mags of borrowed ammo through it without a glitch. Needless to say I got a 550 and the rest is history. The gun devours my longer loads !! Ignorance is not always bliss!?
Why do some use the "longer" free-float tubes on AR

Is it so you can use a rest closer to the muzzle ie. don't have to stick as much barrel in a hole as with 12 in. length?
