  1. While I had a bunch of thoughts going through my head about biggdawg`s tumbler design, I was wondering how well dry media would work in these drums? Anyone try it yet?
  2. Thanks Schultz.... I now see the collar on them. In some pics it was hard to see them. Thanks Biggdawg....... for the link. I meant to say 6"..... but typed in 8".
  3. Did you mean that set collars have the set screw? I`ve never seen pillow blocks that have set screws in them to lock in the rollers. Biggdawg, where do you buy your 8" rubber cap?
  4. I just stumbled on biggdawgs tumbler idea today, and I am getting ideas in my head to try my hand at making one. I have a question about the rollers. What is keeping the rollers from wandering out of the pillow blocks? It appears that the heater hose is keeping the rollers from moving. Is that correct?
  5. I will try the techniques you guys suggested. JThompson, I do not know what you are referring to, please clarify.
  6. How often do have to stop and clean your primer slide? My primer slide will start sticking back after about 200- 250 cases. When it does I clean the slide and top of frame with steel wool and alcohol. But this only lasts a little while before I have to do it again. I am getting tired of taking it apart. Do you have to do this often? I would like to replace the slide return spring, but I can not push out the pin in the frame to get the spring out.
  7. I`m going to guess it has to be closer to a hundred thousand. I`ve had this press since 1985 and all parts are still original. I did check to see if it was tight. I even tightened it down more and it did not solve the problem. The bolt and threads are fine. These parts have been on it for 23 years. It`s just worn out.
  8. Just called Dillon. Tech says it`s from plain ole` wear 'n' tear. They are sending me a new powder bar, NO CHARGE!!! Course you guys knew that.
  9. Nope. The plastic cube spacer is in there, and the bellcrank screw has the correct tension. (Not too tight where it crushes the warped washer) GentlemenJim, I did weigh check some of the loads when I started to have the problem. I caught one case that was undercharged. I don`t want to start pulling bullets. If I get a squib, then I`ll start pulling. UGH!
  10. I`m starting to have trouble with my powder measure on my RL 550. I have the early thin style body with the new collar and roller. The problem is the bellcrank is slipping off the powder bar at the top of the press stroke. (Powder bar is pushed all the way open) I have cleaned and checked everything on the measure and failsafe kit. I do not see anything wrong. The only thing that I see that may be the problem, is on the powder bar where the bell crank button rides in the powder bar slot, is worn. Looks like a half moon cut in it. It looks like it may have been binding or it`s just plain old wore out. I`m not sure though. Has anyone ever had this problem? I`m going to see what some say here, and then call Dillon to tell them about the problem. Thanks
  11. Thanks. The new brass does create the resistance that causes the jerkiness and hard upstroke. I tried running fired brass thru the process and the problem goes away. I`m going to put on some Imperial Dry Neck Lube in the case mouths to help make it easier.
  12. AzShooter, sorry I`m not sure what bar you are referring to. If you mean to lube a bar on the press, I know it is not anything on the press. The press operates very easily and smooth. It is resistance from the belling and powder die. I think it is the powder funnel going inside the case and getting hard to pull back out. Sometimes I have to use pretty good force to pull it back out.
  13. Hi everyone, newbie here. I am not new to reloading or guns, but I do not know the answer to this question. I`m sure there are a bunch of Dillon geniouses (sp) out there that know what is causing this. I would like to know what is making it hard to push the handle back up on the upstroke. I do know the resistance is from the #2 station on the belling operation. I am loading with brand new Starline .45 brass. It is not hard on every case. But on most cases. I really have to push up hard. Sometimes it makes the primers flip over if I don`t watch it. Anyone ever experience this? Do you think it is because of new brass? If I remember correctly I don`t think it mattered whether the brass was new or not.
