[Casefeeder dying?]

May I hi-jack this thread?

I have a 650 with the case feeder and I've been having a lot of problems with 45 acp cases finding their way under the plate and jamming up the darn thing. I never had this issue before, but it recently started and seems to be getting worse.

Since I had been reloading 357 mags before, I thought maybe I forgot to remove the washer under the plate, but that wasn't the cause. Even though I cut the amount of shells in the feeder down to less than 50, I still have problems. I also tried taking it apart and giving everything a good cleaning (again) but it didn't make any difference. I even lightened up the clutch but shells still work their way under the feeder. It seems to happen where the large white plastic (or nylon?) piece is mounted to straighten out the shells.

Any suggestions will be most welcome!!!!!

There were warnings issued at least 20 years ago not to use Brasso because of the ammonia content, which will weaken brass. I don't know if it still contains ammonia or not.

just checked my dillon manual. no spring. great idea though...

It must be something they changed - mine has it. There is a small hole in the end of the ramp that the spring fits into. Press is about 12 years old - give or take.

There actually is a good use for bankruptcy that you all can use.

Next time a telemarketer calls, ask if they can send out the product before you file for bankruptcy next week. I get hung up on a lot............ :-)

[650 shellplate IDs]

To avoid future problems, you might want to color code them. For instance put a dab of red paint on the 9mm, green on the 223, etc. Then post a little chart next to the machine. I did that with all my stuff years ago and it works very well for old guys like me with bad memories.

[357 Sig & 115 Grain Bullets]

If any one has any pet loads for the 357 Sig using 115 grain jacketed hollow point bullets, please post! I would also be interested in any cast bullet info in this weight.

I am looking for a mild load (my testosterone days are over ).

Perhaps when Brian says he doesn't recommend a 650 to people new, he means to reloading in general. In that regard, I agree completely. If however you are an experienced reloader, the transition to a 650 shouldn't be difficult. In basic terms, the 650 doesn't do anything not done with a single stage press - except it does it all at once. Just take the time to read the manual, and the video is great too. Don't try to set any speed records and you'll be fine.

Just be aware of one thing: once you get a 650 set up and running, you may want to make Mike Dillon a deity.
