  9. STARTING 4/22/07 THE SSA WILL START PIN MATCHS LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS. COME JOIN US. MORE INFO www.ssashooter.com What is a Bowling pin match like., What you need to know"it's crazy fun..." < The Bowling Pin Program we will be starting will be fashioned on the Second Chance Matches if years ago. We will be using regulation bowling pins on real steel and alumium "Pin Tables. SSA has owned since the 80's How does it work. The shooter may shoot as many classes with as many guns as he likes. Classes are Master Blaster (senior M &GMs) OSS (ordinary standard shooters) these are open class guns, 9 pin for 9mm guns, 22 for 22 caliber guns, revolver (any type revolver) shotgun (any type shotgun) Stock (limited guns) and a few others if we are successful with the program. First match fee is $15 and every catagory or restoot is $8 This is how it starts The compeditor starts in front of his table( we will have 2-3 shooters at a time) 8 yards from the pins about 36 inches off the ground ,spaced 12 in apart. On all classes except 22 & 9 pin, the shooter will start with gun loaded muzzles touching the shooting bench( no holsters are req.) On horn engage and drive 5 bowling pins back 3 feet off the table. Time stopped by the RO when the last PIN HITS THE GROUND. Simply hitting the pin means nothing. All pins much be OFF the table. Best 4 out of 5 runs are counted for time at the finish. Times are posted for viewing after every few compeditor . In the 22 class you shoot 5 pins placed 1 foot from the back of the table and in the 9 pin event (for 9mm) you shoot 9 pins one foot from the back of the table. Reshoots and other classes after the initial sign up are at $8 per catagory. So you can shoot as long or as little as you like. Trophies will be awarded in each class. Depth will depend on entries per class or catagory. Recommendations. Shoot a heavy flat point or hollow point bullet at high major velocity. In the hayday 45acp at 190-230 power factor were the ticket. The sweetest spot to hit the pin was streight on about 1/3 up from the base resulting the pin to be lifted about 3 degrees and driven off the table on a fly. Most other hits will result in" Dead Wood" problematic shoots: remember time stops when the last pin" hits the ground" so keep shooting till you see the table clear. A brand new regulation pin weights about 3 1/2 lbs but after they've eaten about 30-40 rds of heavy 45s they can swell to about 7-8 lbs(very heavy wood). We hope to at least have one table up on the 4/22 nd to let everyone try it at least as a side match..... I'll Answer question here on the match....More info www.ssashooter.com
