  1. Thanks all. FYI, if you are planning on buying lowers soon I suggest you order now. Most places are reserving the lowers for complete rifle builds. Novesky and LMTs are SCARCE if any available for the next 7-10 weeks. DPMS has a 5-7 month black log now and the others are soon to follow. After ALOT of research I ordered the Charles Daly M4LE. Great review, specs and good price! Now I am looking for an optic. Leaning toward Aimpoint Comp4ms on a Larue QD mount.
  2. Thanks for all the advice. I am going with a 5.56 AR15 and will look into getting another heavier caliber upper (6.5 or 6.8) later.
  3. Thanks Steve, I'll look more into the 6.5. I had read at somepoint that they were having issues with excessive chamber pressures.
  4. Thanks for the input all. I bought a CR belt and 4 CR versa mag holders today
  5. Thanks all. I just ordered CR belt and mag holders from shooters connection.
  6. For Production class? I just ordered a G17 and several mags. I'm coming from the open class and am spoiled by the adjustable mag holders. Looking for something similar for production class. The CR Speed Versa Mag Pouch seems pretty good. Suggestions, recommendations?
  7. You're going to get some replies that tell you to use the search function and/or go to www.uspsa.org and look up the rules, but I'll give you the short version Yes, the Comp-Tac Beltfeed is legal for Production and Single Stack. I have one for SS and it works quite nicely. The holster and the mag pouches can be no farther forward than the point of your hip bone...see the current edition of the USPSA rules for a diagram. The mag pouches can stick out from the belt, but the maximum distance from the inner side of the belt to the magazine is 2". Thanks Gman. Does anyone know what mags meet the 2" limit? It is not the mags but rather the mag holders that have to hold the mags within 2" of the inner side of the belt. You can use any mag for a production legal firearm. The mag holder has to put the magazine within 2" of the inner side of the belt. \Yep, typo on my part. I meant mag holders.

  9. What is allowed and what is the placement of the mag holders on the belt? Can the mag holders be offset or away from the belt? What about Comp-Tac's Beltfeed holder? Is it legal for production? What mag holders do you recommend for production class?
  10. What height Dawson sight did you use?
  11. How do you tell what height front sight you need?
  12. Whats the difference between Warren Tactical and target?
  13. Yep, no problem with that combo either. I meant 6.5 and 6.8!
  14. So how does the 6.8 or 6.5 compare to the 223?
  15. Well let me clarify. I have seen it cheaper than 6.8 or 6.5. For those looking for ammo and prices book mark this link. They keep track of all the 308 surplus on a weekly basis.
  16. Hmmm, sounds like 308 may not work in this case. I hadn't really thought about a 223 lower and upper along with a 6.8 upper. Will the 223 lower work with a 6.5 or 6.5G upper?
  17. Hello all, Here is my quandry. I want to shoot in my local 3 gun matches and need a rifle to do so. While it would be nice to have a dedicated rifle for that its not practical for me at this time. I want to use the rifle for as many things as possible. Hunting and matches at the least. Everyones favorite match rifle seems to be the AR15 platform in .556/.223. That is not heavy enough to hunt with so I was thinking of an AR10 variant in .308. Reasons for this are you have a lot of manufacturers and a lot of ammo options from cheap surplus to match quality ammo. I can load it down for 3 gun and also use it for hunting as needed. The other choice is the 6.5 or 6.8. Problem is ammo is usually more expensive and limited in choice. So is anyone using .308 for 3 gun? How does it handle in comparison to the .556? Is recoil a problem with factory ammo? What about the 6.5 or 6.8?
  18. Anyone know what is different between the Glock gun frames that have the ambidextrous safeties and the G17?
  19. Thats a good idea! I'll have to give it a try! Thanks!
  20. In USPSA you are allowed to swap a Glock standard mag release with a Glock extended mag release (*must* be the Glock part, not aftermarket). On the the 17 and 34, you cannot switch it over to the right side. IIRC, the Glock 21SF does allow you to swap sides, but I'm not 100% sure. If you haven't bought the gun yet, you might also want to look at the upcoming S&W MandP 9L or MandP 9 (M&P). I am going to try a friends Glock with the extended mag release to see if it makes a difference. I have checked out the M&P 9. I really liked the feel of the grip and could reach the mag release without changing the grip with the middle size palm swell installed. The disadvantage as I see it, for the M&P is the cost of trigger job and overwhelming support for it such as the Glock has. Granted I haven't researched it as much as I have the Glock. The initial cost is higher as well. I plan to go to our local match this weekend to see what is being shot and several have offered to let me shoot there pistols. I'll have a more solid impression after that!
  21. Not with a stock glock frame. There are a couple aftermarket releases which might make it easier for you to reach, but it's not possible to change them to the right side of the frame. An aftermarket frame might have that feature, but then you would not be in production. Thanks! I was afraid of that!
  22. I want to use a glock in production competition (G17 or 34 haven't decided). Problem I have is I cannot reach the release button without rotating the pistol which forces me to regrip the gun when ready to shoot. On my open gun (EAA witness) I changed the mag release to be on the right side. Is this possible on a Glock?
