  1. I agree with sharing platforms. I am working hard to win and practicing accordingly.....throw in another platform? I don't need to practice something different right now with what little time I have.

I do find it funny that people are talking about recoil concerns.......9mm..........

  2. What ever you do, don't think that one of the JP heat sinks or something similar will help.

Will actually make the problem worse.

They pull the heat out of the barrel great, and I think they probably help the barrel cool quickly.

But they radiate heat like crazy.

I put one on a new build and had to take it off. Even after 25 or 30 rounds it got crazy hot.

After taking it off, no problems.

This is interesting. I have found exact opposite to be true even in AZ heat where I shoot the most. What handguard are you using with it? I am using Samson and JP and neither have gotten hot.

  3. So is the JP springs same size as the 1911 recoils springs?

They are not the same as 1911 springs from what I was told.

By whom were you told, not that I don't believe you I was just hoping for some first hand experience.

I think it may be a combination of factors, the fact that my piston system seems to need slightly hotter rounds to run reliably in it's current state. Lighter springs may help this. And, that the hiperfire trigger has those toggle springs. I currently have the strongest ones in there which give you the lightest trigger pull, but past half way the hammer actually exerts more force to the primer, also meaning it takes more force to cock the hammer. It may be time to just get the spring kit from JP...

About using multiple kinds of ammo for a match, yea, I would probably agree it is not a great idea. Thing is though, that 3gun falls in a very distant second in priority to USPSA so I really just shoot it for fun. I buy whatever ammo is on sale, so I would like to have a gun set up to handle all types. The change in feel during the match is not enough to cause any problems as long as the gun goes bang every time.

I asked the question by email last year to their parts department.

  4. I don't bother buying too cheap of bullets for rifle loads even for spray loads. Got burned with armscor bullets that had dimension issues and would cause stoppage or waste way too much time when loading as they fell through resized cases due to bullet dimension issues.

  5. I don't get having 7 of the 8 ladies qualifying for the series where only 15 out of 48 guys qualify. So like most things in th shooting sports its weighed heavily towards the females I guess. No knock on any competitors but it should be fair to all who pay to shoot the qualifier. A percentage of all who sign up not just well we need more ladies so all but one who show up get in.

I think it is more that when televised, it wouldn't make full 30 minute show when you have less than 10 competitors.

Also, I am all for pushing for female competitors in the sport any way possible.
