  1. What I see almost as bad as the hot reholstering is the pistol tossing into five gallon buckets.

Who knows where the barrel is pointing when they hit the bottom.

All pistol dump buckets have a wedge screwed in place that keeps that from occurring except for the most unusual circumstances but then it's still pointing straight down.

The reason there is no DQ or stage DQ for guns off safety is because it's a procedural penalty. All barrels are uniform in size, staked to the ground with 18" forming spikes and tested prior to each match. It is in our opinion a muzzle pointed at the ground in any condition in not considered unsafe. Only safety infractions are considered unsafe and grounds for a DQ. All the usual DQ infractions still apply.

We've had more DQs for dropped pistols than anything and threre isn't a rule that can stop that from occurring.

The ROs are more often than not the same as we use the same people match after match to keep as much consistency as possible and each of them knows where the 180 is on their stage with every array. It may look like they're on the 180 but there is nothing wrong with that till they break it so you can chalk it up to the camera angles. We've had about 4 people go home for that.

As far as I know there isn't any rule dictating firearm grounding etiquette or how forceful or gentle a gun can be pitched, thrown or slammed in a barrel. What's done in matches isn't a reflection of the show, it's quite the opposite and what's been going on since I started shooting. People have always carelessly thrown their guns in barrels and we've all looked at them sideways ever since.

Hot reholstering is just an available option some people use to dissect a stage based on their skillset. The new format will probably do away with it as a viable option for all but one stage but no one here watches it anyways so it shouldn't make a difference.

  2. Those scoring concessions for Heavy have been in play all year in the 3GN Regional and Club series with little participation in the Club side and never enough to recognize either heavy division in the Regionals.

I ran some ideas by PK and we came up with a very interesting way to have both Heavy divisions combined for score. Mechanical vs Capacity advantages.

We will also debut a new stock division as well as some PCC divisions for clubs that don't have permission for center fire rifle cartridges in their pistol ranges. New .22 divisions for the new and younger 3 gunners and updates on familiar divisions for the 3GN Nationals.

The new Regional rules will be completed and available in the next 2 weeks.

  3. For shotgun only, it could probably be based upon number of rounds. Yes, it's going to be a bit arbitrary, but at least it won't make the short stages nearly worthless. Even if the stage winner on an 8 round stage crushes it and wins the stage by 1 second, it's inconsequential in overall scores using total time.

Less than 10 rounds- 75 points

    11-20 rounds- 100 points

    >20 rounds- 125 points

    Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
    Actually pretty far from reasonable.

Those points are purely subjective and are not based on a time the stage can and will be shot in.

I've seen a long 18rd field course shot in 28+ seconds and an extremely short 31rd ProAm stage shot in 22 seconds.

    100/28=3.57

    125/22=5.68

    75/8=9.375 (your example)

The short stages are worth the same as every other stage in total time or it might cost you the whole match in points.

The proverbial red herring "what if my gun jams?" makes no difference in total time but will ruin your whole match in points on a small 8 second stage.

A 10 second jamb on a short or long stage equals 10 seconds at the end of your match but could cost you more than 50% of your stage points.

I like the idea that 5 seconds lost and 6 seconds gained puts me 1 second up rather than the 10 seconds in points gained on a long stage doesn't make up half the the points lost being 2 seconds down on a short stage.

At least with total time there is 1:1 ratio. 1 second equals 1 second no matter the size, targets or time it takes to shoot the stage.

  4. This guy gets it. Just one of the few reasons we use this condition for pistols.

Good reason for them(by them I mean empty chamber starts) in 3 gun. First time I was able to look down the muzzle of a Glock twice and it spun to the ground gave me 2 thoughts. 1, I see why some use none in the chamber if the pistol is not the first gun used and 2, holster with retention in 3 gun just may be a great idea!In this case the shooter had his regular non-retention holster tightened down a lot but as he brought the muzzle of his shotgun up/butt down to clear a wall the soft recoil pad grabbed the rear sight of the Glock and when he re-mounted the shotgun on the other side of the wall the pistol went flipping.

Being a USPSA multigun match won't that limit what you can and cannot do?

Will it be a USPSA sanctioned match?

When it was in Georgia it was a great match, but being a USPSA sanctioned event it suffered on the attendance and prize table side.

In what ways does it limit or suffer Mr50?

This match will be USPSA but I'm not opposed to going 3GN or outlaw or something for subsequent years if that makes for happier customers.

I guess what I meant is you're soliciting suggestions from a hardcore Outlaw group of people.

I've seen USPSA stages thrown out as illegal for the smallest things being overlooked.

Can you make people use slings, or climb obstacles with slung guns or all the other things people are suggesting? Maybe you can. Why saddle yourself with it to begin with?

The area 6 suffered because of the perception of USPSA, the prize table distribution and the general disliking of USPSA's version of Multigun.

When the GA State Outlaw quarterly match was at capacity consistently for $80 with plaques and the Area 6 was barely at half capacity for $160 and a prize table it left little doubt that attaching USPSA to it was not a smart thing to do.

It basically killed off 3-Gun in ATL for about 2 years.

It became obvious there was a reason why no other major Multigun match in the country was a USPSA sanctioning event.

My only suggestion would be to use whatever means necessary to make a great and successful match.

  6. What is airline status? Mile high club or frequent flier?

They each have different perks, which to go for depends on amount of luggage and travel companion.

Lol! Seriously though which program gets you free overweight bags. The problem I'm having is my new Patriot Case has more room than the 50lb limit. It is half empty once I get my guns and a few mags in it. If I could go 70lbs it would be a bear to carry but if have most everything in one place.

Delta Silver medallion and above is 70lbs each for 2 checked bags.

  7. I wold never attend a match where it was required.

    I also had lawn darts as a kid , so . . . .

Yeah, I agree with this policy.

There is already rules that cover the safety aspect of moving with a loaded gun.

ROs have enough to deal with and don't need the extra distraction of micromanaging your thumb and trying to see or listen for a safety to engage up to 10-20 times per shooter 200-250 times a match.

Next thing they will want to see me put my pistol on safe when I'm moving.

  8. It's probably a specific range request which will trump any match specific rules.

With all the new short throw safeties available I find myself putting it on whenever I'm done shooting and start to move. After forcing yourself to do this at a local match or two this will become second nature and subconscious like most other safety procedures.

It's a great habit, rarely enforced and not a bad idea to adopt.

  9. 3.3 Penalties will apply as follows:One (1) hit on the target not in the Center (8 circle)=2.5 Second PenaltyNo hits on paper but target was engaged=5 Second PenaltyTarget (of any sort) was not engaged=5 Second PenaltyMissed steel or clay (static or reactive)=5 Second PenaltyMissed steel beyond 40 yards (static or reactive)=10 Second PenaltyNo Shoot Penalty=5 Second Penalty per hit.

Does this mean a FTE is the same penalty as a miss?
The FTE penalty is an additional +5 seconds on top of the +5 for no hits on paper.
Sounds like instead of the typical

    FTN -5

    Unhit-10

    FTE -15

    It's FTN -2.5, unhit-5, FTE-10

    You're correct. +2.5, +5 & +10 seconds respectively.

  12. Does anyone know why Rob Romero only shot 4 stages?

Rumor was a DQ, but that is unconfirmed and the reason sounded a bit odd.

DQ - Unsafe Ammo. After last year, we were pretty hot on this and I guess unfortunately he didn't get the memo :( .

    What is unsafe ammo exactly?

I saw at least one or more small fires caused by steel ammo off some flint on the ground. <_< seams like one time was at FB3G with the SAW from prone

I was working that stage. The problem was the tracer rounds. A couple of the privates had to go through and remove all the tracer rounds and re-belt the ammo for the rest of the shooters.

Odd it was, considering the circumstances that happened after the fact and proceeded to the following morning.

Does anyone have Mr Furbee's email? I believe I have some grievances to redress but will refrain from speaking about them until I talk to him personally.

    Rob
