  1. I have sciatica but looks like it is caused by a muscle wrapped around the nerves. So I am missing a few matches while the physical therapy kicks in. I thought the sciatica symptoms and hip/back pain were unrelated. Nope, but it took X-ray and MRI and some PT to confirm.

3 days after taking Vioxx the pain was gone and has not returned. Too bad you can no longer buy Vioxx.

Meloxicam works the same and is $5/30 day supply at my local pharmacy.

  2. Yall want bullets forward or backwards?

I can make some kydex ones with a tek lok on the back if there is a market.

Obviously, both. ;) Call them "right handed shooter" and "left handed shooter". Me personally, bullets forward on my left side.

Saw someone at a match that had a double pouch for .308 mag's. Not sure what kind it was.

There are "tactical" double pouches out there, but they tend to be Molle attach and I do not have the right belt.

    This Saturday details:

    Shooters!

We will be hosting a USPSA Pistol match this Saturday, June 25th at Best of the West, 19500 W. SH 29, Liberty Hill, 78642 (512) 355-3486. There will be 6 stages, including 1 classifier. This is a great opportunity to practice your skills. Thanks to Sheldon and crew we have a new wall system thats all set up and will not blow over .This will make for quick clean up at days end.

    MATCH INFO:

    Round Count: 97, bring more!!

    Match fee: $20 per person

Set up: 8:00am (help is needed and appreciated)

    Registration begins at 9:30am

    New shooters' meeting: 9:40am

    Regular shoothers' meeting: 9:50am

    Match begins at 10am

Be sure you drive the speed limit through Liberty Hill; they are sticklers.

And 1st Saturday is ALSPPC (USPSA) pistol at Austin Rifle Club (ARC), 9:30am signup, 10:00 hammer down.

  4. I got a card at the match. Chris Klein (chris@bresser.com) was in the tent, although I have not contacted him. Looks like they do not have dealers for all the products, for instance, rifle scopes.

  5. WW2 division looks fun. Of course, I have enough trouble on the 500 yd targets with a scoped AR. Pretty sure an M1 would not make that easier. Hmmm - better get out the one with the "good" barrel and make sure it runs ok. Would have to get more 8 round single stack mags.

I offered to donate some barb wire for the last one, got lots in the barn, all rusty and ready to go, but the offer was declined.

    I'm ready now!

Well, I can use some recovery time from the setup experience. Still looking forward to the match.

  6. There is an NRA promo video made at LaRue with Rick shooting a LaRue rifle. If you listen to the video...he shot a bunch of rounds and only hit the steel once. :surprise:

<_< Hey Bro....We -Both- shoot a bunch of rounds and only hit the steel once , sometimes

I do NOT miss steel - steel jumps out of the way! :D

  7. For those coming out, gonna be hot, please remember to hydrate.

    An update from Sheldon:

    Hey Shooters,

I've gotten quite a few emails concerning the raffle. We were unable to

secure another means of payment. I checked with another service and we are

waiting for validation which takes a few days. My account with paypal is

not frozen and should you choose to risk sending funds *DISCREETLY* we

shouldn't have a problem. * DISCREETLY means no mention of raffle or

firearm.* ... As for the match, we've got two lined up, a USPSA pistol

and a 3 gun match. 4 stages each with approximate round counts of 120 for

the pistol match, and 75 rifle, 60 pistol and 40 birdshot for the 3 gun.

Setup help is greatly needed and starts at 730am Saturday morning. Thank

you again for all your support, look forward to shooting with you.

Please remember our sponsor, LaRue Tactical for their generous

    contributions. http://www.laruetactical.com

Late for snail mail, email Sheldon for other options.

  8. Is the sight height 1.5"? I am thinking it is higher than that, more like 2.5-3.0". The Hornady calculator defaults to 1.5 but can be changed.

If the bullets are boat tail, then a BC of .4 is probably close, but a flat base bullet will be more like 0.34, so you may want to pull one, to be sure.

  9. For ammo suggestions, the barrel (with twist rate) and chamber is all we need. Along with XM193, PMC Bronze is usually good, and in the same price range. If I go steel case, I pick Silver Bear, but it is getting pricey enough that the XM193 or PMC is good. Note that vendors are warning of price increases, and we may have hit a bottom on ammo (and component) prices for a while, and a couple vendors I use have about sold out of XM193, so move soon.

  10. Lee,

Thanks for the hard work. Would it be possible for you to put up the combined standings that were used for the prize table?

    Thanks

I have nothing to do with putting them up, I just noticed they were there. :D The combined standings (for the prize table after the top in each division) were made by just merging stage point totals of those who were not the top in division. There was a list generated, I will see if it can be posted.

  11. Don't worry. You will be able to sign in before the match starts that morning. Hammer down at 0730 after the shooters meeting. So get there early.

    The official word:

645a registration however it is strongly encouraged to be at Thursdays registration.

If you register Friday morning, please know what stage you are going to and be ready to shoot pretty quick. Like, have magazines loaded, shotgun trays loaded, whatever, for your first stage. Some of us do that anyway, but we have new shooters at the match.
