1. Wow ok..... How do u turn on both the tlr-1 on yer shotgun at the same time or do you start the stage with lites on ???

It was announced we start stages at this match with weapon lights off. A headlamp may be turned on (to make LAMR safer), but weapon lights off.

I wonder how many Open shooters will take the comp off and modify a holster for dot+light ?

I wonder if there is going to be a confined-space stage where a super-high-output light will reflect back and hurt you more than it will help on a distance stage? What if those are the same stage? :surprise:

  2. Nope. No oilfield. Just gonna drive on Friday may work a half day.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 4

Am I missing something? Driving to the Texas Multigun Match on Friday means missing a day of shooting. Match registration is Thursday afternoon, and shooting starts on Friday morning around 7:30am. Shooting continues until about noon Sunday, then awards, prize table, etc, then expect to get out around 2pm Sunday.

  4. Running a little behind in my reading...

Clays and 230s are like apple pie and baseball. Don't mess with perfection.

Problem I have with Clays and 230gr LRN is it is very easy to go from barely major PF to flattened primers, at least in my gun. Fabulous combination for minor PF. like steel loads. I still use Clays but will change when I use it up since I need major PF.

231 is good for a broad range of bullet weights and PF, but tends to be a little snappier than the faster powders.

I tried Titegroup before and will return to it when the Clays is used up, but depends on what is available when the time arises.

  5. My wife got exposed once and the only thing we could figure was her trip through a "petting zoo" at a county fair, baby goats we think. It was on her hands, she went to the bathroom...it was ugly. So you can get it transferred.

For me, no special potions, just use soap and water when I am exposed, and that includes clothes, boots, jacket, anything.

When the oozing starts, hot bath or shower for a few minutes. It will itch like crazy for a couple minutes, then stop. The histamines get used up in the cells, and no more itching for hours. Lasts almost through a work day.

  6. Who?

Ah, youth. Minox was a manufacturer of high end cameras since long ago. Guess they have branched out to other optics.

If you want to be adventurous (i.e., the first), then go for it. $1400 is a little steep unless you have spare cash laying around. And, how good a "buddy"? Maybe he should buy one and give it a try, or loan it to you. However, the only available order number is for the German #4 reticle, not the BDC, which would be better for 3-gun.

  7. Anything else I should be considering? The last time I have been to Cabelas they had Federal 5.56 (XM 193 stuff), and .223 PMC for the same (half way reasonable)price.

    Thanks!

    Eli

Whatever works best for you. PMC Bronze (there are different PMC brands) is my primary ammo. Down to my last case right now. I have some XM193 from years ago and it works fine, too. Both PMC Bronze and XM193 have had quality hiccups over the past several years, but generally are very good. Bronze runs about 3000 fps from my rifle, but it is a 20".

Cheaper steel cased ammo is not always better.

If I save $0.10/rd with steel case, after about 2500 rounds, I cover the cost of a new barrel. After that, its gravy. I know Silver Bear is accurate enough for most targets at my matches, although it has been unavailable even before the recent ruckus. YMMV

As for Wylde, that is a chamber to be cut into a barrel, and is generally considered the best option for 3-gun. But if you already have a barrel it is not an option.

223 has been so cheap so long it had not been worth it to reload but I was going to start again just to keep my supply line going. Yep, that was the plan last fall. Right around New Years, was gonna buy a bunch of supplies and start reloading 223 and 9mm again. Oops.

  8. i am in! any suggestions for how/what lights and gear to get? GOing to rock some CTG on the pistol, but at a loss for rifle ideas. Thinking of just taping a surefire to the front and hoping for the best.

I did not go last year, but new for 2013 is 3-gun, including shotgun. So...New Nordic clamp with rail for shotgun, new handguard for rifle (I could drill holes and hang something on the carbon fiber tube but I am on a roll), new pistol with light rail, light for said rail, and finally new holster for pistol+light. That's all, not much. Probably some glow sticks, spare handheld light, batteries, and maybe spare light bulbs.

  9. There are 3 different Tula small rifle primers. Small Rifle (KVB223), Small Rifle Magnum (KVB223M), and the other Small Rifle Magnum (KVB556M).

Which one is better for 3-gun 223 loads in an AR with a JP trigger? Bullets will be 55-75gr, and powder is TBD, but not trying to make hot loads. I would rather not waste time and money trying all the Tula variants.

    Thanks.

  10. This may have already been asked but i was wondering if I should throw my cart in the truck or can we park close enough to the stages I won't need one?

There is neither parking nor driving room for 300+ vehicles in the shooting area, so please bring a cart. We will not allow access except for staff and sponsors. That does not mean "sponsored shooters", it means sponsors so they can carry in tents, tables, etc.

BTW, the most birdshot I used on a stage was 10 and I could have picked that up with pistol.
