  1. 3 of is are actually using Winchester AutoComp....I was using 3n38 byt it was hard to get and costs more. I have had great luck with AutoComp and will be sticking with it. At Area 6 shots from my sons gun were 1408, 1409, and 1407. Can't really get more consistent than that. It is also very clean for me at ~172pf.

    What charge/ bullet head?

  2. Seemed to put a lot of heat into the comp very quickly, but it shoots relatively flat and is a nice alternative to VV powders. I also like that it's dense enough that 8.0 gr isn't at the top of the case mouth. Anyone know how temperature sensitive it is?

  3. Just chronoed my 38 Super Autocomp loads.

Montana Gold 121 gr IFP, 8.0 gr Autocomp, CCI SPP, 1414 fps, 171 PF.

Zero 125 gr JHP, 7.8 gr Autocomp, CCI SPP, 1353 fps, 169 PF.

Barrel is a shuemann 3 port hybrid with a M2i six chamber comp.

  4. Over the last couple of years of reloading with my SDB, I have had a issue with 9mm nickle brass only. When I seat the primer it goes in really easy with no resistance at all and occationally the primer falls out completely (this is rare but it has happened a couple of times) I am ready to quit using nickle completely. Has anyone else had this happen? Or am I crazy and unlucky?

Oh god yes. With my 38 supers, I had a whole bunch of stretched out primer pockets, only with nickel plated casings. I found that after loading a couple hundred rounds of nickel cases, if I put them in the tumbler for a few minutes (less than 5) any loose primers would fall out and I wouldn't have to worry about having a loose primer ruin a match for me. For what it's worth...

  5. I own two, one for my small primer machine, and one for my large. On my .45 set up, I love it. It increases the load rate a ton by not having to take my right hand off the handle. On the other machine, 38 special and 38 Super (taller cases) tend to tip out like JT was saying and end up getting nicked by the resizing die. It seems to have its good days and its bad days, almost like the primer feed bar. All in all, a good add on, but if I had it to do again, I'd buy two 650s with casefeeders.

Had a revelation tonight... After crushing another valuable 38 Super case, I noticed that the obvious cause of the problem was the ridge between the shellplate and the aluminum adapter that comes with the dillon casefeeder adapter. I had tried blending the seam between the two before with a dremel and sandpaper, and it helped, but not enough. So I figured I'd try another approach and shim the aluminum adapter from underneath to try and get them to line up better. I cut a playing card up into a few small rectangles, and added them under the adapter until the seam was just about even. I loaded another 300-400 rounds without a glitch, when previously I had been nicking the case mouths every couple dozen rounds. I was so pleased with myself that I had to post!

  6. I just got a bunch of the CED mini targets in the mail, and they are friggin AWESOME! I just painted a bunch with hard cover and then plastered them all over the garage...I'm expecting quite a lecture when the GF gets home and tries to park in the garage...

    LMAO :roflol: Good Luck!

  7. The experience, whether it works out fine or not really makes me question any travel with gun in checked luggage. It is likely I will travel to matches by air again. Direct flights help, if you get Let's face it, living in the New York State does not offers many major matches within reasonsable driving distance (A7, A8, LIC).

I cannot see giving up a chance to shoot the Nationals again if I get a slot, it was just TOO MUCH FUN!

Glad all worked out in the end Matt. Maybe next year we'll CAR-pool to Nationals...

  8. As long as there are still guys playing around with springs... don't let it end with just the spring rate! I played around with length as well and was really amazed with the results. Most everything I run now is a shorter version what most would consider a standard rate for the type and caliber of a given gun.

    Examples?
