  1. Realistically, I don't see any advantage with the Legion SAO over the 320 as far as the trigger is concerned. Or any other tuned striker fired trigger. I think that rule is outdated.

I thought that rule was made to keep the 1911's out of production. Any hinged trigger should be allowed IMO.

I have the flat apex trigger on my 320 as well, and like you said I shoot both guns equally. My 320 with the trigger is banned from production too.

  2. SAO guns are explicitly prohibited in Production.

You can shoot an SAO in Limited, Limited 10,or Open.

OK that might of been my disconnect. I didn't realize that list was production only guns.

  3. I think they need to make more SAO guns. I know a lot of folks who all say the same thing. Love the sig, hate the DA/SA stuff.

I agree! I'd buy a P229 Legion SAO today if they had them.

I think that the P229, and P220 are next on the list of guns to go SAO in the legion series or so i've read.

  4. I am not much of a Sig guy, but the Legions are tempting me away from my 1911s and 2011s.

The trigger, oh, the trigger. I have side by side a Legion P226 and a P226 with the FULL Grayguns treatment. The DA pull is about the same, but the SA and the reset are noticeably better than the Grayguns P226. I also have a stock P227 to remind me why I don't like stock triggers.

The sights are nice, the first non-adjustable sights that I can stand. They are regulated for a center hold, instead of my preferred six o'clock hold.

The grip ergonomics are just right for me. The undercut is just enough, the beavertail just enough. It just fits "right".

I ended up getting two Legions, one the P226 and the other the P226 SAO, both in 9mm.

That 226 SAO is very tempting. How do you like yours.

I have the 226 SAO. I couldn't be more impressed with a gun. Just little things.. Lots of little things, everything is done right. Grips are perfect. The cut under the trigger guard.. Perfect. Trigger is amazing. I brought mine to the range with my USPSA buddies, and they were all blown away, and wanted to pick one up. You won't be disappointed, my desire to buy a 2011 now is gone.

  5. It's been posted online by some people that they have been able to get SIG to shave down both sides of the safety to make it fit the box at no charge if they complain that the primary use was for IDPA.

Do they have a replacement safety? Or do they literally shave it?

  6. I ordered three today. It looks like the base pad will need to be modified or replaced with one of the standard base pads if you are running a magwell. Also, a reliable 21 rounds from the factory is awesome but you should be able to get two more with Grams springs and followers.

What basepads are you guys using?

  7. I for one am super happy about it. I love the GADPA matches but found myself a few years ago drifting away to shoot 3gun, and USPSA. I really miss all the guys from GADPA but didn't enjoy shooting IDPA with all the stupid rules, the most recent rule changes were the final straw and I haven't shot an IDPA since.

I truly hope GADPA puts together a more common sense approach to defensive shooting, because I really think that is what a large portion of the shooting community is looking for.

  8. 1/4" gap sounds like an awfully lot. I don't know the S&W model number line up, but are you sure that is the right pouch for that mag? If it was just a little too snug or loose, I'd say get thyself a heatgun and fit the mag to the pouch (I had to do this with some new 773 pouches recently)...but 1/4" of slop is a lot to overcome. Might want to call Safariland to see what they recommend, they have good phone support.

The ELS belts are very nice. I reluctantly upgraded my old worn out belt rig and got into an ELS belt rig and now wonder why I waited. If you are doing multi-gun, the clip-on/clip-off feature is handy. If getting it only for pistol and don't have planned on doing a lot of swapping around then the model 077BL 1.75" wide belt hangers (or just getting the pouches for a 1.75 wide belt when purchased) work great and are a lot cheaper than the clips. The BladeTech TechLocs work great with the belt too, if you have any of those already.

I did call and she said I had the right one.. But I've seen the fit on other models and it was way off. I mean so much so it would of been tough to keep the mags in the holders..

I do have the blade techs. I wonder if there is a way to use the ELS clip system with the bladetech stuff.

  9. I am trying to put together the ELS system for my M&P .45 the magazine holders that safariland (holsters.com) are an awful fit. After tightening it down as far as it can go there is still probably a quarter of an inch clearance and the mag just wiggle around in there. I am using the 773 series, 773-383-121 is their model number to be exact. Does anyone else have this problem with the .45. It's turning into quite a process and I can't get a good fit. I'd hate to have to scrap the entire ELS, but unless I can get a mag holder that fits I might have to.

  10. I am told the operators are just insanely sharp. is that what you find? do you shoot with gloves?

    Mike

I don't use gloves at all, they are sharp when you first get them but you get used to them after like 4 shots and they are good to go.. Never used gloves, never got blisters.. They are good to go.

  11. I made Master last year in the classifier.. I am still mad at myself for doing it in the classifier.. Do it at a sanctioned match.. You will be happier later when you hit it. Good Luck.

Sounds like good advice...at least you then know that you are functioning at that level and not just a master classifier. Seems odd that some Masters are hounded by Sharpshooters...

The majority of the Sharpshooters I see that are nipping at the Masters are guys that aren't in fact sharpshooters but Experts or Masters sandbagging the sharpshooter division. I know of more than a few shooters who regularly shoot at Master level but don't want to move up to master class so go out of their way to avoid classifiers and or sanctionaed matches. As a master it doesn't affect me I dont compete against them, but i feel bad for the guys who are legit sharpshooters trying to move up being held back by sandbaggers.
