  1. Can't go wrong with a model 66 with three or four inch barrel.

    Excellent choice, and I would also consider a 3-4" 686 7-shot.

My personal home defense weapons are a Benelli M4 with 9 rds. of 00-Buck

and a S&W PC 627 8 shot "Bloodwork" 2.6" bbl. This one is also my CCW choice.

  2. A fellow shooter, who is not on the Internet, wants to shoot 9mm Major

Rounds in his Witness Gold Team 9x21 barrel. He also wants to shoot

    Moly-Coated Lead Bullets.

I recommended he should buy a 9mm barrel and shoot jacketed only.

You guys have the experience with this round, so please enlighten us

with the best advice. Also, some of your favorite load data would be

    greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Howard

  3. Wow .... Very Cool. I shot every Western States Match and was lucky enough to win a gun each time. What a Prize Table they had.

Also shot every Golden Gate Match and all subsequent Reunion (FAME) Matches. Lots of Great Memories. Thanks for posting.

  4. I've seen this happen many times in PPC guns shooting very light

Bullseye loads with 148g Lead BBWC bullets.

It was called "wave pressure" back in the 70's-80's, whereas, upon

ignition, the burning charge would bounce back and forth in the case.

I've seen entire cylinders peeled back from this phenomenon.

  5. Yes, I was a FFL Dealer in Ca. (1972-2004) and moved my business to Nevada

due to all the BS Laws and paperwork involved. Mags will only be Sold & Shipped

    to Non-Kommunist States.

My best friend / shooting partner passed away from brain cancer in 2002

and I brokered the sale of his firearms right away. He was a retired Prison

Warden and had purchased a lot of extra Para Ordnance .45 LEO Mags,

    (14) rds., and I would like to market them to our members IF it is legal to

do so (in some states). I'm looking for solid info before I list them for sale.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know it's a felony to try to sell them to or even give them to anybody in California. You also can not ship them into the state or carry them in.

  7. +1 for a 5 - 6" .38-.357 S. & W. Revolver. I carried my 6" Python for many years on Deer & Hog Hunting Trips (to augment my .264 Win Mag Model 70) and actually took a Deer cleanly with a single shot on one occasion.

A 686 or 627 (with appropriate loads) would be great choices for hunting Deer or

Wild Boar in the USA, as well as Revolver Competion(s).

If you are considering hunting Canada or Alaska, I would certainly opt for a much larger

caliber, say .44 Mag and Up.

I made several trips to Kodiak Island while stationed on Adak Island as a Flight Engineer

in a US Navy Anti-Sub Patrol Squadron and carried a Brand New 8 3/8" Model 29 at

all times. It was mostly Wilderness in the 1960's, and Brown Bear could "pop-up" at any

given moment while wandering around "off Base".

The guys in the Parachute Loft crafted a very comfy shoulder rig from Heavy Canvas

and Leather, so I looked like "Dirty Harry" before he even existed.

p.s. - That Model 29 cost me $105.00 shipped direct to Adak Island. NO Background Check,

NO 10-day waiting period, and NO paperwork whatsoever. Cash and Carry, Baby !!!

  8. You might have better luck at the 50 yard line with a lighter bullet.

Good Advice ... However, as I stated, I need Minor Load Data for Oregon Trail 250 LRN,

because that's what I have on hand and want to shoot right now.

  9. Calling all ICORE & USPSA Revo Enthusiasts ...

I have 2k Oregon Trail 250 gn LRN "flavor" in .45 acp and need to

load them to MINOR for ICORE & USPSA Revolver in my 5.250" 625.

Also have 4k 230 gn Bayou Bullets on order for the future.

I have 700X, Clays, Universal Clays, WST, WSF, & VVN320 Powders on hand.

Hoping for 130pf (plus or minus), as my 70 yr. old shoulder can't take

MAJOR Loads any longer. This a plea for HELP !!!

    Thanks, Howie

  10. Anyone have FRESH loading data for Bayou 160's in .38 Short Colt ?

I have the following Powders available at the moment:

VVN320, WSF, WST, 700X, Clays, & Universal Clays.

I'd like to chrono at 128-130 PF for USPSA Revolver Division.

Been shooting 3.2 gn. of 700X for a while and it's blowing the

Poppers down just fine, but the gun is filthy after one Match.

I'm open for load recommendations using the Powders I currently

have on hand. As you know, Powder is a rare commodity these days.

  11. I have crafted my own design of Moonclip Holder (since I am an old-fat-guy) and I want to buy a dozen or so of those

Round Magnets with the counter-sunk hole to complete my rig. I have seen several "home-made" versions of the

currently available models, and wanted to make my own. I will not be marketing them.

Anyone know where to buy those magnets ? ... Thanks, Howard

  12. Well, here is the PC625 5 1/4" I picked up recently, along with a NIB 627-0 from the same guy. I bought them both for $1500.00

The 625 came in the Aluminum PC Case with everything and is only test-fired.

Now, I gotta load a bunch of .45 boolits !

  13. Okay ,,, I will grab it ... Thanks for the info.

BTW - He doesn't know who did the action work, but it sure is Nice !!!

and ..... yes, it has the Greenish Miculek Grips and shorter cylinder.

Once you get it can you please post a few pics for us?

    Thanks

Yes, of course, IF the guy doesn't see these posts and decide to ask more money.

  15. I have an opportunity to buy a like new 625 with 5 1/4" Barrel (contoured like the newer 627 .357's), but can't

seem to find any info about this particular model ... The owner claims it came from the Performance Center

but I can't find info to verify it ... It must have been tuned by a great revolver tech, because the action is very

slick ... The guy wants $800.00 Firm which doesn't sound out of line since the new ones (4") cost that much.

Any info on this Model is appreciated.
