Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Well I got my parts in, got the thing assembled, added my dies and adjusted, powder measure set-even added a Home Depot adjustment "nut" ....ready to cook! I start the case feeder...it won't run on the Low setting but on high it will drop cases....very good. I add primers. They fall out the bottom of the machine! Those that don't fall out create a jam from HELL! I tear the priming system apart....can't see anything wrong. I put in ONE primer- at least that way if theres a problem maybe it won't be so bad.....works fine! Primer arm presents primer to the case....looks good. Dump primers in.....on the back motion of the primer bar it spits out 2-3 live primers- they fall out of the bottom somewhere. I was so mad I didn't even see where they were coming from- I think the rest are now jammed in there ......again.....I walked away and came here. Help! Everything is otherwise running smoothly. Measure is throwing good consistent charges ( I ran and weighed 10 before I was ready to trust it), deprimes good, case head moves freely....... Ideas????
  2. I've got it all cleaned up. Going to order parts today. It will be nice to have the machine up and running. Hopefully once I get it set up I can spend more time shooting and less time reloading!
  3. I have a 1050 that has sat dormant for many years. I am trying to put it back in order. It appears based on the manual I have that a few parts are missing. I went to Dillons website and they do not have a parts diagram for the 1050.....so...I have no idea how much the parts are going to cost etc.....I am fairly sure that I have figured out exactly what I'm missing..... I guess I should just call them and see what I need to do. I have the parts numbers from my manual and I guess we can figure it out over the phone. I have started by cleaning the whole press-first I hit it with my air compressor, then with rubbing alcohol and some other cleaners- for the plastics.....Going to relube everything following the instructions for the 650 I found here.....See if I can resurrect the thing.
  4. On the reload section I could just use one of those decap only dies.....this might work. Thanks.
  5. So, I should set the thing up to do case prep and then set it up to load? That might work too. Most of my brass is commercial, once fired....comes off an LE range...but I do have quite a bit of "mixed" military stuff as well so the swaging is a good idea as well.
  6. What I think I will do is set the case trimmer up in an old RCBS single stage and do all my trimming there. I want to try depriming and sizing in the 1050 and if it doesn't work then we'll do something else. I mean, the whole point of progressive reloading is, well,....progressive reloading.... If I'm doing the sizing and depriming and trimming beforehand....what's the point of having a 1050? Maybe I should just load .223 on my 550 and set the 1050 up in .45 ACP and leave it that way? No trimming issues etc.....
  7. I have a Dillon 1050, it is not a Super 1050 but an older, standard 1050. Right now it is set up for 9m/m. I bought it this way- VERY cheap and now want to run .223 on it. What do I need to make the changeover? This is what I think I know- 1. I understand that the "buttons" are the same and I really don't need different ones 2. I will need a different case feed plate for the feeder 3. I will need the appropriate colored cartridge tube guide I think that's all I will need-Anything else? I have the Dillon case trimmer and a set of their carbide dies. Can I load while using the case trimmer? I would think the vibration would make accurate charge throwing pretty tough? How should I set up the dies/ trimmer etc......Any other suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.
