where did you find the lanolin?

I just got my Dillon 550B delivered yesterday and have been trying to decide what my practice/local match ammo should be like.
I am debating between the coated lead bullets from Precision Bullets or Bayou Bullets and Berry's plated bullets. I am currently shooting my 9mm Springfield XDm 5.25 about 1000 rounds a month. There is about a $7/1000 difference between the three.
I know that the coatings are designed to reduce leading, but how do they compare to a plated bullet?
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Leading is an issue everyone talks about but is never an problem with a high quality cast bullet. If you only shoot a good cast bullet, don't worry about it. If you shoot a combination of cast and jacketed, scrub the barrel before you run any jacketed through it. But, even if you forget, it's typically not a problem. You just end up cleaning the barrel without the elbow grease.
I have at least 10k through my shadow and have never cleaned the barrel. I scrub the chamber to ensure consistent feeding...no more. Yes, it's polygonal rifling. Yes, they smoke. If there's a breath of wind you'll never notice. No, I have never seen a decrease in accuracy due to not cleaning the barrel.
I have videos posted here: YouTube.com/kalebg35 and even in a hot, humid climate like Arkansas, smoke was not a problem except for two targets on "the door" stage.
Practice or matches, I only shoot cast bullets and I get them here: shooterready.biz
Hope this helps.

kalebg,
Beg to differ. I used almost every lead bullet that was recommended to me and they all leaded except Rainers and they were not significantly cheaper and never as accurate in my gun as low cost jacketed bullets. The only ones that I never tried were Berry's Bullets due to the cost was higher than Montana Gold. One of the things I found funny is that when I ordered each of these non-leading lead bullets, each of the salesmen had different poweders they either recommended or advised against. Powder list was the same but which side it was on varied. Bottom line is in my case it did not matter they all leaded the barrel.
I truely wanted to find a lead bullet to work and spent almost as much money on that search (powder and bullet combinations)as I spent on the gun and never found one that worked.
Agree that you will never know until you try. Just be wiser than I was and just get a sample rather than having 4,950 lead bullets that you have to sell to someone shooting a Sig.
Best wishes to all.

I use solo 1000, WST, or hp38. My CZ hasn't had a brush through through it in 10,000 rounds. PM me your addy and I will send you some samples.

Shooters that experience high leading in polygonal barrels are using crappy bullets. I only shoot cast bullets; practice and matches. I have never had a problem. Give these a try:

Stu,
Thanks for correcting silly me
no worries..most people don't have the opportunity to try and see..and most folks will get the answer that it is not possible. cuz really its not intended to be that way.
it is not optimal and I would not recommend it.
but you can make parts fit and get it to work..if you HAVE to
Thanks for the info.
Not worth it

Remove the primer tube and primer slide bar, you may have a primer cockeyed in the slide bar...or back off the Allen bolt on the primer lever located on the primer tube....slide the assembly up and check to make sure the primer slide bar isn't stuck...you can also remove the the plastic locator tab on station 3 to get a better view of the to the primer slide bar...before you reinstall anything, make sure that the primer slide bar moves back and forth completely and smooth as glass.
A stuck primer, stuck slide bar or dirty priming system will prevent the machine from cycling completely/ smoothly. Good Luck, don't pull your hair out...
