Thanks, I look forward to hearing the results.

Thanks for the info, Henning. I would have thought more people had tried the .22 upper. I know it doesn't simulate recoil, but it sure seems like I could save alot on ammo by doing a good bit of training with the 22. I may go ahead and get one and see if I can fix it to where it's not a jamamatic.

Does anyone know if the Witness 22 conversions will work, or can be made to work on the Elite Match guns?

I shoot nothing but the 168 AMAX in my DPMS carbine.
I put it over 41.7 grn of Varget to an OAL of 2.800.
IF I do my part it will shoot .5 MOA, I also crimp it with a Lee Factory Crimp. Also, use it for deer hunting and am very satisfied with it's performance on a live target as well as paper.

The match with it's straight barrel is slightly (very slightly) different recoil from the Limited 40 which I shoot.
My loads are 180 / 4.6 of Clays, OAL 1.18" and I use a Wolff 10lb spring.
Here's what I make available on my shop and how I've separated the spring weights etc for various loads:
Thanks for the info, I just didn't want to beat my frame apart.

I'm hoping someone here can help. I have a Witness Elite Match in 40 S&W. My question is, should I replace the factory spring with something lighter, if so, how much lighter. I used to shoot bullseye and we used seperate springs for different loads. I'm sure this isn't much different, I just don't now what the limitations of the gun is, nor what is safe. I don't want to beat my gun to death by using to light of a spring. These are the loads I'm using. Thanks for the help.
I use a minor load of
3.5 titegroup
180 grn xtp
1.135
major load
4.2 titegroup
180 grn xtp
1.180

Another vote for DPMS.
Bought the AP4 last year, and it will shoot under MOA with Varget over 168 AMAX.
Completely reliable also.
