  1. Am I the only person left that wants a 2011 that doesn’t look like it was drawn up by a hyperactive 13 year old?

I have a STI Tactical which does it for me. Professional, too the point, no fluff.

I’m having a hard time with the creative elements of the Staccato or anything else 2011. The slide serrations are silly, too much bling all the way around.

  2. I’m far from an expert. I heard rumors about high round count 2011 frames cracking where the little screw goes in on the front of the trigger guard. I’m pretty sure modern 2011 mags work in the older guns. I have 2 STI’s and staccato mags work great. Older mags were finicky. Staccato is on its 3rd Gen of magazine development. I have 6k rounds through the 2 guns and they have both run beautifully. No issues. They just keep getting smoother. Slides are still tight.

It happened once on my INFINITY open gun, just heat it up with small propane lighter and reverse drill it out with this US made extractor, don't use those cheap HF or home depot stuff, going to casue more damage, the best investment in my tool box and when the broken screw come out, the best feeling in ur life, lol.

“The bed feeling in ur life” that really is true. I’ve never felt more relieved or accomplished than when removing a broken screw. I’ve had good luck with Hanson extractors and second the quality tools remark. If it’s broken off flush I’d send it to a smith. I’m pretty good at screwing stuff up and that wouldn’t be fun to screw up.

  4. Ha! I understand the social media nonsense. I went vintage with a STI Tactical to avoid the stigma. I’m not saying “never” as the XC is really calling my name but I don’t have much interest in the “P”.

  5. I think I’ve run across that post. I’m aware that the X5’s are great guns. How do the compare to say a staccato xl or other 2011. Is that an apples to apples comparison?

I grew up on single stack 1911’s and am relatively new to the 2011.

  6. I’m new to the 2011 platform and am finding that at about 200 rounds or so when using a single mag I have to clean. My warning is half way through a mag a bullet will just go wonky and point straight up. I may also need to refresh mag springs. No idea how much use they’ve seen.

  7. I’m a sucker for a good looking flared magwell. I wish I would’ve purchased a German X5 when they were semi affordable.

I hear that the newer versions are as good or better but I still live in the 2000’s in my head.
