Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Alright, I'm gonna update this partially as a help if anyone else has a similar problem. I managed to get it working after a break from tinkering and then some work with better tools (dear lord how much easier things are with better tools!) I managed to push the firing pin down enough to get the firing pin retainer out (the firing pin did NOT want to go down, or be released enough for it to be removed. Crazy when you watch videos and people just pluck em out). Next problem was that the firing pin was stuck real good. This took a few days to finangle with (lots of wd40 at this point), until I finally found a metal rod with a little divot at the end where the firing pin could sit which would fit down the slide, and a handful of hammerblows later it was unstuck. Real anticlimactic considering my heavy efforts without proper tools. The extractor pin soon followed, and I started playing around with the whole assembly, figuring out why it had gotten stuck. My conclusion is that the firing pin was probably rotated the wrong way, somehow. I have no idea how it managed to get that way on its own (I had not done anything to the slide when I did my original teardown to change the magrelease) but it is possible I reassembled it poorly at some point and did the hammer assembly weird (There was a point where I did not get the hammer to catch properly and interact with the trigger mechanism. Dont know if that did it, but its the closest I can figure without mucking about with it again). Also the firing pin safety had some small indents in it, which could be the cause. I degreased everything with 99% alcohol, relubed with the original gunoil, wiped down all excess, and then installed it "correctly" (rotated 45 degrees from where it was I think) Now it moves and works like in the disassembly/assembyvideos I have found. I have not tried it at the range yet, as it is an outdoor range and it is snowing right now, and I have work in an hour. Will update, perhaps with pictures of what I did, in case someone else has a similar problem in the future. Thanks for all the comments and help, I have enjoyed troubleshooting this thing despite it all.
  2. No problem solved as of now. Hammer works fine, all the problems seem to be in the slide. Sear works fine, but firing pin and firing pin safety are stuck, and either are my tools not good enough (the dorn/pin driver) or the extractor pin is also stuck.
  3. Unhappily either its pretty stuck, my tools are not getting me enough grip, or its simply not sticking out enough for me to get some grip. Read somewhere that removing the extractor might help, but my pin driver/dorn is too big (I used a modified nail for the smaller ones before, but its to weak for this one) so I need to order some real ones.
  4. Pretty proud over my sear spring installing. Used a guide from these forums which worked a treat ( The troubleshooting continues. Apparently the sear is fine (the "damage" seems to be someone installing and aftermarket sear and adjusting it to fit, now that I look it perfectly lets the safety slide into the "damaged" part and stopping it from moving when safety is on.), but the firing pin and firing pin safety are stuck, which pushes down the sear when the slide is back, and thus causing this peculiar problem. After some gentle tries I have not gotten either of them loose yet. Like I have learned when taking this gun apart and together again a few times, sometimes you just have to have the right knack to get something loose or to fit, and when you do it right, you are often rewarded with a very smooth action. Love to get some help in where to go here. The backplate is wobbly but stuck on, I guess the firing pin is stuck a bit too high to release it properly. The pin itself is well and truly stuck, although I have been careful with it in fear of breaking it. The firing pin safety is like a rock, gonna try some light banging with something less sharp than what I have on hand at the moment.
  5. Hello. I got a used Tanfoglio Gold Match Xtreme for precision shooting. Unluckily for me, I am a leftie, but luckily for me, the mag release is reversible, so I went and reversed it, which was a deep dive into the gun for a complete beginner like myself, but I got it working. (It got stuck the other way around, apparently it was not 100% symmetric. Some very very careful sanding fixed it, and I mention it here just in case it could have any bearing on the real problem) However, after reassembling the gun and dryfiring it, it worked fine for about 10 triggerpulls before the hammer kind of uncocked and would not cock whatsoever. It is a single action gun, so I have to manually cock it, but it would not stay down or respond to the trigger. Pulling the slide off and forward a few cm reconnected it again, but as soon as the slide went back to its normal position, the hammer disconnected. I pulled the whole assembly out again and cleaned it up again ,when I realized that the sear part was very worn down (It is a previously used gun after all) and I wonder if any knowledgeable people here could help me if that might be the cause. The safety pin also has some wear, I took some pictures of the general state of the parts and the slide. Thanks for any and all help.
