  1. Also, I believe we want more lady shooters and more junior shooters, and for those categories, I think you need to give awards period.

If ladies and juniors feel they have a chance to win something or at least be recognized, they are more likely to come. (Maybe!) I'll tell you the truth, being a lady shooter and shooting with all guys, kind of makes you feel...less than adequate sometimes. At least when I'm shooting with some women, we can compete with each other, and even when we're ignored at the awards, we know! I honestly think that's why sometimes ladies and juniors don't come out and compete: because they won't be up there when they first start, and it takes a lot to keep going with no recognition at all.

I know it seems a little sexist as 90 plus% of the shooters are men. But, if we don't want that to always be true, we need to recognize those in the minority. We recognize the...shall we say...long time shooters and really long time shooters! :roflol:

    My $1.02!!!!!

I'll see your $1.02 and raise you my 2 cents worth...lol

Denise...you do a great service to women shooters at the matches that you and JJ run. And you are correct that if women are recognized they are more likely to come back and compete again as they feel validated in their own division. I would also add that when husbands and wives shoot together, the husbands have a greater chance of acquiring the "free time" to attend a match. (mesage to the 90% of shooters who are men...invite your wives) Now, granted, he will end up spending twice as much money in double the gear, double the ammo, double the entry fee...but, hopefully, they will share transportation and lodging. :) An added feature, this great expense can create harmony in the relationship...unless of course the wife shoots better than the husband. :surprise:

The same is true for juniors and expenses. If mom and/or dad are paying for their kids to shoot then the expenses increase exponentially.

My point is that as we are working to increase the juniors program for the future of shooting, don't forget the lady shooters need some recognition and support to increase their numbers as well.

  2. You are so right!

The Casanovas are the rangemasters and they spent the day trying to keep us all running along smoothly!

It is a thankless job, but they are the best!!!!

You're right. we all thanked JJ and Denise, the sponsors, and ROs but I think we left out the Casanovas. Those guys are the perfect example of what is good in this sport. You guys keep it up!!!!

    +1

The Casanova brothers are the best 2-man team to keep any match going!

They work hard, they are always smiling...and they keep coming back...hmmm, they're keepers!

    Thanks James and Adam

  3. UPS requires as part of company policy that handguns must be shipped overnight. This is not requirement of the ATF. USPS will not allow any firearm to be shipped unless an affidavit is signed from a shipping FFL that it is going to another FFL. Then it is totally fine to ship Priority mail which is the best deal going but it just requires that the dealer go in person to the post office to sign and submit the affidavit. I don't think FedEx has the same policy as UPS. But none the less......handguns do not always have to be shipped overnight.

I believe this is correct...also, I was told by UPS that if the firearm is not complete ie. not a functional firearm out of the box but sent as 2 separate packages of "parts" then the overnight shipping is not required.

  4. During a break in the rain, my wife decided to let the two dogs out to go to the bathroom. While they were outside, in total darkness, they came across a new "kitty" wandering the yard. This new kitty became most odorifeorus in short order. The dogs came howling back to the house and tore in the door that was being held open by my concerned wife. Needless to say, we have been trying every anti-skunk scent trick we could think of. Seems to be working pretty well, or we are just getting used to the aroma.

I am hoping two days of baths will clear up enough of the scent to allow us to handle the trip with them in the motorhome. 1200 miles of driving with my head out the window does not sound like fun.

I hope everyone elses trip is starting out with a little less adventure.

That Febreeze stuff works on skunk stink...not sure the spray stuff has enough"magic" to take care of the motorhome though.
