  1. ok, thanks for the advice... not plugged into GFI nd all connections seem tight and secure. I'll have to go thru credit card slips to see when I purchased it but i'm pretty sure it was about 15 months ago
  2. Yesterday was brass processing day, I knocked out about 1000 556 then noticed my trimmer motor was running intermittently... It does still trim brass perfectly but sounds like someone revving a motorcycle. I've attached a video so you can hear it.. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, John Video_1 (1).MOV
  3. I did a good cleaning on the bottom of the shellplate in the middle of my troubles and it didnt seem to help. Ive got a alignment tool on the way so maybe thats what i need. Will post results
  4. Funny you should sk... I just converted from 556 to 45acp and everything seems to be butter. Thing I cant figure out is i've loaded probably 10K off that 556 shellplate and never had a issue till this past weekend ;/
  5. I was thinking it was something i could do a little trial and error on
  6. I havent removed the platform but will contact Dillon tomorrow about a alignment tool. Got the same input off a facebook forum
  7. I'm having a timing issue with my 650.. Shellplate isn't aligning properly with the priming punch. In order to get primers straight in pockets i've got to rotate the plate counterclockwise about 1/8th" by hand. I've taken everything down and cleaned thoroughly. Already replaced detent ball spring and tried adjusting cam for index ring but that didnt help. Also tried running shellplatte from a little looser than usual to so tight it will barely rotate and everywhere in between... Any suggestions?
  8. The blade is not square to the shaft, it only uses one side (the leading edge) to cut based on its rotation, you wouldn't want it be square as the back side of the cutter would drag across the edge of the brass. I had to remove the unit all together to switch to station 4 ( didn't have the foresight to figure out the vacuum shroud wouldn't fit over the tool head pin) and payed better attention to how it was designed. At first glance I thought it was just bollted on but now I see it's designed to only go on one way. Thanks!
  9. I just received shipment of a RT1500 trimmer from Brian. This is my first press mounted trimmer, upon assembly I noticed the blade on the cutter head was slightly canted. After I ran a few test pieces I noticed the brass wasn't very cleanly trimmer. My question is should the blade be locked square on the motor or should it be canted? Thanks in advance, John
  10. I finally found my split ring pliers... The spring adjustment seemed to have helped significantly! Thanks!!
  11. Good morning all. I wanted to post a quick question regarding some of the problems i've been having with my new primer filler. I purchased it around the first of the year and just cant quite seem to get a grasp on adjusting the rig. The main problem i'm having is the primers "bunch up" at the top of the feed adapter or occasionally (5%) flip over as the enter the adapter. I've tried everything I can think of... I've tried running the feed adapter screw and stabilizer plate from locked down tight to so loose it vibrates out ( and every combination of the two), i've tried changing to the spare adapter and ran every possible increment of adjustment on the rheostat and nothing seems to help. Yesterday I finally had enough and broke out the trusty flip tray and tubes. BTW i've tried it with CCI, Tula Rem and Win and the problem persists. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance, John
  12. I've run about 15K thru my 650 (small pistol and rifle), can't tell a difference from CCI or Wins
  13. Thats got me headed in the right direction.. I certainly appreciate it fellas!
  14. I'm interested in purchasing a Dillon trimmer but have a question about how my setup should be. I've envisioned my toolheads as follows... Processing TH will have my size die at station 1, trimmer at 3 then I can cycle thru the machine, tumble to remove lube, swage if applicable the run thru loading head with decap die to remove media in flash hole then continue in normal fashion. My question is there any adjustability in the trim die or do you HAVE to size with it? I tend to use FB bullets and i'm not to sure about the lack of a expander in the process. Thanks in advance for your replies!
  15. Question, The cases that don't seat a primer, is the old primer still intacked? if so, I had a similar issue till I used locktite on the decapping pin (Dillion Dies). No, the old primer is gone. It just feels like the primer punch "misses" as if there was no primer there but sometimes one still comes down the "retrieval ramp" other times it seems like no primer inserted into the primer disk.
  16. I just got my new 650 up and running within the last month and it has been a dream other than these two minor problems I cant seem to get rid of. First, it will fail to seat a primer in about one out of a hundred cases. It may be something i'm doing wrong but I am pretty good about not "short stroking" and I can always tell when a case is skipped by the feel of the upstroke. Things dont feel right then a few pulls later, a primer comes sliding down the ramp. Plus it ALWAYS happens in the middle of a tube so I know its not me letting it run out. The other problem is the amount of powder that gets spilled as the shellplate rotates. I have stop loading about every 150-200 rounds to vacuum it all up (I learned the first time locater buttons MUST be removed prior to vacuuming ) Thanks in advance for and advice, John
  17. Ok, thanks for the replies! I went ahead and kicked out 300 10mm's before I asked anyone and fiqured I might need to make sure before I did anymore loading. I was suprised at how easy it all went. I was expecting the machine to be much more finniky than it was. From the time I started drilling the holes in the bench till the first round hit the plastic tray was about only a couple of hours (i dont know how long it should have taken, this is my first progressive) and now i'm hooked!! Once again, thanks for the help, John
  18. I just received a new 650 machine with video and while mounting/assembling it, I noticed that I had no powder bar return springs as shown in the video. The powder bar does have a "post" for the springs but my machine didnt have any. I know this video is about 10 years old and I was wondering if there was a change of design that phased them out or if mine just werent packed. Thanks, John
