Can’t beat a Big Dog Steel Carnivore for delivery time, rigidity, speed, fit, and security for a full body holster.

If you  want to stick to Kydex, Hammer Armament makes excellent holsters with a reasonable lead time for a custom holster.

I've tried the Carnivore holster previously, and if I remember correctly, there was some movement/rocking when locked at least on my G17. Am I remembering correctly?

The GX holsters are great products.  I have a couple of them but I wouldn't wait most of a season to get one.  Guns come and go too fast sometimes.  When I buy a competition gun it means I want to shoot it and not have it sit waiting for a holster.

What would you recommend instead for a Kydex of similar quality? For an Atlas Athena if that makes any difference.

  3. Any of the kydex holsters with retention will work..they all, at least should, accomplish the same goal. Hold the gun in the holster in a safe manner and allow for a relatively quick draw. Even a T-Rex Arms holster will do that, but GX Holster has a different feel to it and locking mechanism that can be achieved by adding a clamp.

I had issues with a 13# with a Timney and Glock Perf trigger, there is some force needed to push the slide to battery and capture the striker in those systems, 14# does the trick for me with a normal G17 slide, but my 17L needs more power than a 14#. I am trying 15# next or a clipped factory RS

Interesting, I've been running (maybe 300 rounds) the 13# with Timney and 4.5# striker spring no issues so far. But I do have a Zev slide, maybe the "lighter" slight made a difference? Or just Glock tolerances

I ran a G34.5 for a while and my favorite, most accurate trigger was a TTI/Wolf 4.5# striker spring and a dot connector. I ended picking up a G19.5 a few weeks ago and went with a Wolff #5 and the factory dot connector. Makes a pretty nice trigger in Glock land for my tastes.

The only thing I'd consider is a JohnnyGlock kit because he polishes the hell out of everything and runs a tuned Lone Wolf connector with a steeper angle for more of a "wall" similar to a + connector.

Con concur, the Combat Evolution + the Vex shoe makes a really nice trigger

A lighter striker spring is used in a stock(-ish) trigger to reduce the pull weight.  When the trigger is reset the striker is not fully cocked like a 1911 hammer would be.  As you pull the trigger you pull the striker back and compress the striker spring.

With a Timney trigger the striker is fully to the rear and the spring is compressed.  Pulling the trigger releases the striker.

A heavier striker spring will mean a better hit on the primer, plus should add a bit of recoil absorption.  Don't think there would be any advantage to a light striker spring with the Timney.

Note: I am not a gunsmith nor do I play one on television.

Copy. So what do you play on television then?

I’d recommend returning to using a stock spring.

Mind if I ask why? So far, haven't had any issues with the 4.5. But I'd rather avoid any potential problems if you suggest otherwise

From the best that I was able to determine it’s that if the recoil spring is too light in a striker fired gun that the act of pressing the trigger / cocking the striker could pull the gun slightly out of battery making it at risk for a

    potentially dangerous situation.

Ah, that does make sense. Since the striker is being pulled back.

If you lower the recoil spring weight, why do you also need a softer striker spring?  I’m not seeing how the the two correlate.

I know that Wolff includes a striker spring with all their GLOCK springs, but they said it was just out of courtesy as they feel it’s an overlooked maintenance item. They’re also reported to be just stick weight springs.

Something to do with the balance of the springs, others may chime in with better knowledge

My current CO gun is a gen 2 G17.  Replaced mag release with extended release.  Steel recoil system. Brass grip plug. Milled for C-more rts2.  Done. Works great. I love the smooth front strap on the gen 2 guns, and I love the old school dust cover with no rail. I have G19-3 and filed off the finger bumps immediately.

mind if I ask which brass grip plug your using? The only weighted one I can find for gen 1-3 is the Thug Plug

Those of you having reset issues, game changer for me was replacing the red return spring with a stronger torsion spring. The reset is wonderfully positive now, no need to tinker with the connector so often. I had to buy a bunch to offset the shipping, that's the only bad part lol

Mind sharing details on that spring? Does it also increase the pull weight?

Yikes, I may have to pick up something in the meantime as it sounds like its not coming for a minute.

Shooters Global is a great alternative. Not sure if their shipping is any faster, as I got mine second hand. But it's a great timer and the app is great
