Don't buy the whole kit then.  Just buy a few tips to start out with.  Each one is like 6 - 8 bucks a piece and a soldering iron of enough power is like $20.

Some of my DIY work with what came with the soldering iron an a couple of OT Defense tips.  I like aggressive grips.

I agree, that’s some nice work ya did.

at the risk of sounding stupid, is there any discernible difference between a soldering iron and a wood burner?

I bought the stippling set from OTDefense and had decent success on a few carry guns on some *very basic* stippling jobs. It seems that to really get good would take more time and energy than I was willing to invest. I practiced some on a few Sig grip modules for practice but it seems I just don’t have a knack for it lol

it looks interesting and satisfying for sure, but that’s also my concern. If I spend $130 for a set up and realize after a couple tries I either don’t like it/not skilled enough I’d be sitting with a wood burner I won’t use lol

  3. Anyone have any experience stippling grips or other gun accessories? I’ve spend an ungodly amount of time and energy into watching videos on it and it seems like something I’d want to get into.

any recommendations on wood burners? Tips? Any other hidden materials?

Cold wash / gentle cycle only. I used hot water once and some of my 9mm brass shrunk down to .380's.

Don't overthink it. Lots of Dawn and a pinch of LemiShine. Cheap cement mixer from HF. Let it run until neighbors can't handle the noise anymore. Then another 90 minutes. Rinse well and spread on beach towels in the shop for a week. Ready to go.

lol I’ve been seeing lots of people using cement mixers for large batches. I’m sure the neighbors will LOVE me!

  5. When I was still shooting production - g34 for competition all day. My duty gun is a g17.

As for EDC: during the summer I’ll carry a g48/43x mos, during the winter I’ll use my g19.

love Glocks for carry, but have since transitioned to CZ for competition (limited/open)

Pretty much what George16 does. Only other thing I add is either Turtle wax wash and shine or the Armorall wash and wax. It leaves a protective wax coating that makes them slick and easier to size plus they stay shiny longer. I tried the Brass Juice and felt it didn’t do anything better than my own concoction. With any of them make sure you rinse really well. In a full tumbler I use a tsp of Lemishine or citric acid, a Tbs of wash-n-wax and around 1-2 tsp of Dawn. The pins are a PITA but they will scrub the grungiest brass to look like new inside and out. If your brass isn’t that bad you don’t really need them.

Add a capful of Lemishine to the dawn soap and you’re good to go. No need to buy those fancy concoctions sold by manufacturers such as Lyman etc.

I guess I’ll have to test out some Lemishine then. I’ve seen people use the vehicle Wash & Wax too. I’ll test it out.

    thanks for the suggestions everyone!

    What works for me.

    1. Dishsoap and Lemishine for 15 mins.

    2. Rinse

    3. Wash & Wax and Lemishine 30-40 mins.

    4. Rinse

    4. Dry in a food dehydrator, which is all the reloading specific dryers are anyway.

I use a Frankford Arsenal Lite tumbler. 600-700 rounds of 9mm per load.  If you're really high volume then get the full size. I don't use pins.

I use the same tumbler with 3lbs of stainless pins and a cheap beacon dehydrator. I’ve been told to do 2 steps. First, as you said, a 10-15 min wash with just water to get the initial dirt off. Then drain. Then use the soap and run it for 3ish hrs

I don’t know that there’s enough meat on a .550” TS/TSO barrel to thread the 40 tube … most 40 barrels are threaded 9/16”, no?  Groove dia is .400 and 1/2-28 min minor dia is going to be .451 and even a 1/2-32 thread only gets your minor up to .457 … that’s not a lot of material.

You could probably use some sort of custom shoulderless .550” thread and then index on the muzzle, but you’d have to custom make (or rethread) the comp.

I had one of the 9mm threaded barrels dropped into my .40 TS and it works awesome.

I had the idea of getting a threaded .40 and possibly finding a comp to run my TS2 in open. But I ended up pulling the trigger on a czechmate and decided I’d just stick with 9major.

Didn’t think the .40 with a comp would offer much benefit compared to 9major with a comp

  9. Just getting into reloading for 9mm/9major. Decided wet tumbling is the way to go. As of right now I’m using ordinary dawn dish soap and seeing decent results. I’ve heard so many products being used and I’m unsure on what to upgrade to at this time.

    Hit me with your recommendations!

  10. The g45 is a nice offering with the 17 size grip and the 19 size slide…I’ve heard rumors Glock is discontinuing the g17 in the near future - and will instead be offering, the once only available to Border Patrol, g47 after Shot Show 23’.

Just rumors I’ve heard don’t castrate me if I’m not correct!!

Anyone have real world experience with the Bear Creek BC9 bufferless upper.  I know it's bear creek and am fully aware of what they are as a company but I want something cheap to literally run at a once a year match and random range toy.

Hello, I don’t have any experience with Bear Creek; however, my PCC sponsor makes excellent quality and affordable platforms. I currently run my BM9 in PCC USPSA and it runs excellent. I think the entire platform (upper/lower) comes to about $800. Give them a look:
