Uncle Alvah
I want to "build up" areas of the stock on my Marlin 882SSV, ie the forearm, pistol grip, comb. Can anyone suggest a compound that will bond to the stock and still be able to be shaped and sanded?
old shooter
Uncle, I think that you can use "bondo" on your stock. You know, regular auto body filler. You should practice on something else first, as you must remove most of what you don't want before it gets too hard. You will of course have to repaint your stock, but here is your chance to get creative.
DT Guy
For a permanent application, you can use "Acra-Glas", a product made and sold by Brownell's (http://www.brownells.com). It's sort of an epoxy with gel consistency, and gets as hard as a rock and sticks to damn near anything. It was originally used for bedding rifle stocks, but these days it's used for lots of stuff. Rumor is some of the people doing Glock grip reductions use this to replace the polymer parts they cut. Larry
