Ejcb
Hello, I loaded some .45 ACP today, and got the following results from my Glock 21 using my Garmin Xero Pro: Brass: Virgin Hornady Small Primer Powder: 231 Primer: Magtech SPP Bullet: PPU 230 FMJ OAL: 1.250 As you can see, I have relatively low velocity, and only the 5 grain load actually cycled, I was using a firm grip, as per my experience as an instructor, so no limp wristing! Questions: - Is my OAL contributing to low velocity, should I adjust? - What charge will get me to 800-830 which I believe is desirable in .45? - If I was to use such 800-830 data in a large primer piece of brass, would I have to adjust my data or would I be safe? - Does anyone have insights on what would be a good range to try next - I’m thinking of 5.1-5.2-5.3-5.4-5.5? 392heminut
Back when I was shooting 45 in competition and using 231 my go to load was 5.2 gr. with a 230 gr. bullet.
