Because of the way the Beretta handles DA/SA, you will always have that extreme travel on a SA shot. You could reduce takeup with some trigger work, but that first ~1/4" of travel will never go away.

The "D" spring helps with the weight. On my carry gun, my SA pull is just over 4lbs now.

But, I still have the distance, which doesn't bother me.

I forget who off hand, but could probably find it with Google... But there are a couple of Beretta 92 gunsmiths out there... They'll add rail inserts, bushings, drop in an entirely different style of trigger, and do other work to the trigger. There are some cool things you can do, but they cost a lot of $$$$.

Honestly, the D spring is the cheapest trigger fix....
