muleymaniac81
I'm a beginner, and I feel like an idiot to ask this, but here goes: I read a lot of posts about adding a magwell, exactly what does that mean? Sorry if that is a stupid question, I just can't seem to wrap my tiny little brain around it. Thanks Mitch
LT45
A magwell is designed primarily to enlarge the opening in the grip where you insert your magazine. The beveled shape guides the magazine in with greater ease and speeds up your reloads. Here are a couple of examples. Justsomeguy
Like LT45 said. It acts like a "funnel" to give you a bit of margin for error when you have to do a quick magazine change, guiding the nose of the magazine into your gun. It is an add-on part and does not in itself change the inside diameter of your grip on your pistol. Most are only "semi permanently" attached, though some are epoxied on and I have seen some silver soldered to metal guns but I don't know if that is done anymore. Magwells are not allowed in Production Division of USPSA or stock pistol of IDPA, but are allowed in Limited, Limited 10, and Open in USPSA/IPSC... I don't know of any other restrictions in IDPA either.
