RowdyOne
I had a chance to chrono my IDPA load in preparation for next weeks Indoor Nationals at Smith and Wesson. I kept 30 rounds outside in the car(high 20's-low 30's) just to see if TiteGroup is temp sensitive. I kept 20 rounds in my pocket for 2 hours also. Here are my results from my stock Glock 34.... 147 Berry's RN 3.4 TiteGroup 1.15" OAL Fed 100 Small Pistol Primers Asst range pickup brass Range temp(50ish) 30 rounds from the bench Avg:924.9, 135.9 PF Hi: 945 Low: 890 ES:55 Std Dev:12.52 20 rounds that I kept in my pocket Avg: 927.45, 136.3PF Hi: 948 Low: 910 ES:38 Std Dev:11.4 30 Rounds from outside Avg:916.87, 134.7PF Hi: 931 Low: 888 ES: 43 Std Dev:10.58 For kicks I shot 30 from my Glock 17 Avg: 902.47 132.6PF Hi: 933 Low: 870 ES: 63 Std Dev:14.86 I hope this helps someone out. Lord knows I have gotten a lot of info off of this board.
babob
Thanks a lot for the data! I have been shooting 124 gr. Berry's for the past two years out of my Glocks. Before Berry's, (2008) I shot nothing but 124 gr. Montana Golds. Recently I picked up one of the 250 rd. boxes of 147 gr. Berry's while at Cabela's. I wanted to make up some test loads to see if I would like the 147's better than the 124's. Due to the cold weather, I've decided to put off making the 147 test loads until it warms up, besides I have several thousand of the 124's to use up anyway. I have used nothing but Alliant American Select for the past two years for my 9mm loads. Most folks say "what powder" when I tell them that to which I point out that the reason I tried AAS was due to the fact it was the best powder to use for "Accuracy" according to Sierra's reloading manual when loading 124 gr. bullets. Also, it's a "Ultra Clean" burning powder which I agree with compared to some powders. American select also fills the case very well. If for some reason I forgot to turn the wheel on my 550B, a double charged case would overflow whereas using Titegroup I might not notice. Don't get me wrong, I love TG also but prefer AAS. When the warm weather gets here, I'll put up some of my own data for the 147's. Oh BTW, I envy you going the S&W Indoor, I would have loved to went but the funds got diverted for another project. RowdyOne
For my load, TG fills the 9mm case about halfway. A double charge, while not overflowing, is very obvious. I have loaded TG in 38 Special and that can easily triple charge. I worked an extra weekend to come up with the cash to go. They changed the match hotel and it is @ $20 more a night that the other place. American select also fills the case very well. babob
Finally got to test some 147 gr. loads today. 03-17-10 Temp. : 75 deg. Humidity : 25% GLOCK 34 Berry's 147 gr. CCI 500's Alliant American Select : 3.2-3.4 gr COAL : 1.140" Case : All FC once fired nickel. I made 30 rds. on my 550B. Checked powder drops were 3.2-3.4 gr. Chrono'd via a CHRONY Beta M. 10' from the muzzel to the front of the chrono. I know, it should be to the center of the chrono, but what the hell. Here's the data. (String 1) 1 = 892 2 = 912 3 = 924 4 = 902 5 = 895 (String 2) 1 = 892 2 = 902 3 = 891 4 = 902 5 = 907 Of course the first thing you notice is the softer/push recoil. I'm use to shooting 124's at 135 PF so these suckers were a treat to pull the trigger on. Super accurate, all ten rounds in a 1" shoot-n-see dot at 10 yards. Looks like I need to load up the rest of the 250 rd. box I got and try them in match now.
