  1. Same thing as the guys who're wearing 'chick' pants (see other thread).

But, ya' know... we tend to do weird things (simply because we CAN) when we're young. I know I did. I think, on one hand, it's just runaway youthful imaginations thinking up doofy things to do (or wear), and--on the other hand--it's a bit of it-HAS-truly-gotten-outa-hand-this-time behaviour.

What also concerns me is there are hundreds of employers who will NOT hire you looking like some of these people look these days! No way. I even feel a little guilty with my four-piercings-in-each-ear situation some days. Though I really low-key it in conservative settings. (FYI, I have no OTHER piercings of any kind.) ;)

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. if we were only to buy products made in America, then we should also realize that we should be in a position to only sell our products in America.

Where do you get all the oil if you can't buy foreign products?

    Alaska comes to mind.

  3. if we were only to buy products made in America, then we should also realize that we should be in a position to only sell our products in America.

I don't really see a problem with that. We were certainly self supporting up until a few decades ago.

  4. New car today.

Choices: Honda CR-V, Chevy Malibu, Saturn Vue, Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape Hyrid

All allegedly US built. Honda $ goes back to Japan

Malibu too small, Vue simply didn't like the looks

Ford Escape, we couldn't find one at any local dealer.

Jeep, Fits in all manners except maybe mileage, but since wife drives less than 10k a year, not a real deal buster.

Point, we bought an American (as American as we could) car, built in Toledo Ohio. I admit I have alot of foreign built items. Some guns, a lot of electronics. Sadly a lot of my clothes, but trust me, you don't want to see me naked.

    Jim

Jim, I agree that it is getting harder and harder to "buy American" these days.

I think our salvation rests in having "our government" (read that us) ensure that importers are held to the same standards as US companies in the US.

If there is a truely level playing field, including labor, evironmental and materials then the issue would be non exisistant.

I own a F250 because I need a pickup truck. The wife drives a small SUV made in the US. Little by little, I am working to ensure the products I buy are made here. Sometimes I go without because what I want isn't made in the US anymore. Unless we want to lower our standard of living to support the growing nations overseas people need to wake up.

I am positive you are correct when you tell us that we do not want to see you naked!

  5. I feel for ya bro.

I had a similar incident about 10 years back. A blow directly to my eye. My eye doc rushed in from the golf course to treat me. (really love him for that)

I had to be imobilized for a week. I had the same symptoms as you. He really wanted to put me in the hospital.

After all was said and done it was only a couple for months before the debris cleared up enought for my eye to feel normal. I think there may be some hope. Doctors usually give the worst case scenerio.

The accident realy put things in perspective for me and my eyes. I visit the eye doctor regularly and wear my safety glasses for dang near everything I do except watching tv.

SLM couldn't be more right. You only get one set. Even 50% is unacceptable.

  6. I am getting really tired of hearing people whine about all of the jobs moving overseas.

If you purchase your goods that are made in counries on another continent, then you are part of the problem.

I live near a LARGE retail store that started life proclaming that we should buy American. With new leadership that has become a thing of the past!

If we want our country to survive economically we have to invest in our own future.

  7. "Best" is really subjective. If you are trying to build a tight, quality piece, measure the rail dimensions of the slide you already have. Then contact some of the quality parts providers (ie: Caspian, STI, Rock River, etc.) to see who can supply a frame with rail dimensions that will require fitting with the slide. That will give you a real "quality" base to build the rest of your pistol.

    -JPL

Yes "best" is subjective. What I should have said is who can provide a quality frame that is slightly oversized for fitting.

I have looked at Caspian and Les Baer and see that there are a lot of people using them.

Anybody had any issues with Rock River? I have not even seen one from them.

    Thanks for your help.

  8. Guys,

As an alternative to Dremel, you might consider Foredom. It is a flex shaft drill generally used in jewelrymaking. The motor hangs on a hook or stand. The flex shaft and handpiece hang off the motor. You control motor speed via foot pedal. It's quite good.

    Liota

Love mine....Makes a Dremel look pretty anemic.. ;)

I wouldn't know what to do without my Foredom. Hanging or bench model work great especially coupled with the foot pedal for speed control.

  9. Oh I know. Its just that the school has blocking software and tracking software. the other day somebody put a zip file of a shooting game on the server. they erase it at night then the kids reinstall and play over the network this shooting game. The teachers were looking for these kids trying to catch them. He cant even bring up my web page at school. They used to have a way to fool the blocking software until the school got a new one. I am wondering if the kids found a way around the new one and I am a little worried about what they would do if caught.

On another note. My boys do and always have worn shooting shirts to school. Its not disallowed in the policy, only no drugs, alchohol, tabacco(we are in KY where allot of parent raise tobacco), or racial slander. Nothing about firearms. So the bigger the gun pic the better.

Dont know if you have seen the email going around about how things were in 1973 compared to 2006. I sent it to the school system superintendant.
