  1. Today I had an experience today at a local range (Nice Shot, Redding, CA)

I was shooting in lane 5 and there are 2 other lanes bieng used. Lane 1 is having some sort of problem, and there are two guys sharing that lane. Anyway there is some problem going on, did not know what at that point, soon one of the range manegers comes in and I hear him tell the shooter "the reason your gun is not working is you loaded the magazine backwards, the bullets face forward twords the opening".

I finished my rounds and left but the more I thought about it the more it freaked me out. If the guys did not know how to load a magazine they probably did not know how to use the gun or saftey. In other words who knows where they were pointing the #### muzzle, in my direction possibly?

I also remembered that I take my kids there to shoot (last time, never again).

End result I called the manager and voiced my concerns, he was full of #####, he said there was no problem, his instructor went in and solved the problem, I replied that he may have explained how to load, not handgun saftey. He said they have no way of regulating, they ask if people know how to use the gun but that was all they could do.

For me that is the last time my kids will use that range and I am still not sure about myself.

Someone who does not know how a gun functions has no buisness handeling a gun, it is a accident waiting to happen.

by the way, the dorks were using a range gun, a 1911..........

  2. okay, I have been shooting alot latley, some at a indoor range, shooting standing, some outdoors, split between sitting using a sandag under my hands to stabilize. The odd thing is I get better results stanging without the sandbag. Why???? The only thing I can think of is that it is because 85 % of the my shooting is standing. Also I am shooting mostly at 25yrds.

  3. Okay, the production class as I see it states that double action guns have to be fired as a double action shot the first shot. I was told the XD and the glock do not have a real saftey so basically they would be ready to fire already cocked? Is this right and how would this play in the competition? I ask as I want to buy a production gun in the near futrue and am planning on a XD. Also I see mostly 4 inch barrels on the XD but I know they make a 5 inch, is the 5 inch legal in the production class?

  4. I own an older para P14, I was told b one gunsmithe that it was one of the first and that it was basically like a kit gun. Anyway I like the gun but I need more 14 round mags, problem is that I have found a few and they do not go in all the way, they seem to be just a hair too wide. I was told by one company that this was the way the early mags were. So where do I get more mags that I can be confident will fit?

  5. I actually have another question, where I shoot they do not really use the box to check and most people use long clips in both limited and limited 10, I personally have been using the Chip 10 round mags in my 45, so now I wonder does noone make a higher capacity clip in a single stack for the 9mm 1911? I am talking about basically somthing like my 10 round 45 clip but holding 9mm?
