  1. Has anyone else noticed (and been annoyed) that the Picatinny rail on the VR80 is not to spec?  A proper pic rail has slots that are 5.25mm front-to-back, and 10mm center-to-center.  The VR80's slots measure in the 4.8mm range on my caliper.

This isn't a problem for optics that are made to fit thinner Weaver slots or Picatinny, but I'm trying to fit a SureFire M640 whose mount measures 5.25mm.

Anyone know a good way of widening the slot?  Or starting a campaign to demand that Derya/Armscor/RIA supply a handguard that's properly spec'd?

Here are a few photos of what I have done with adding a bottom rail/ heat shield and drilling holes in the top of the hand guard to dissipate the heat.

Can you tell me where you got the rail section?  I can't seem to find one that has both a flat base to sit flush on the handguard, plus properly sized (5.25mm) slots to fit a true picatinny mount accessory.  Thanks.

Quick update. Shot that club match I mentioned, 5 stages, all with shotgun, about 75-ish shells and a couple slugs. I used the Fiocchi low recoil slugs and 1145fps Estates - 100% for the day.

Do you mind sharing where you bought the slugs - everywhere around me and online that I've checked is sold out, and my indoor range only allows slugs.  Thanks.

I was just wondering if anyone else found the small section of rail beneath the hand guard?  u take a little hex bolt out and there it is.. my Daniel defense forward grip goes right on and tightened down... just wondering what that plate is for that covers the rail? I'm useing a tac wrap now for my guard for my hand but would love to use my forward grip

Could you post a picture of the area you're talking about?
