Not sure who's wasting money on names instead of functions.  When it comes to firearms, like most other stuff, you get what you pay for.  At least to a point.  Cheap guns are typically make with cheap parts, MIM components, with large tolerances, poor fits, and assembled by unskilled workers.  Expensive custom or semi-custom guns have parts machined from forgings or bar stock, to close tolerance, assembled by competent smiths, etc.  Some people aren't able to tell the difference between the two, or just don't care.  And/or the difference for them isn't worth the extra money.  Those folks should absolutely go for the cheaper option and be happy with their choice.  Folks that do see the difference and care about it will be glad they spent the extra money.  But it's completely wrong to say the people in the latter group are wasting money on names v. functions. In fact, for that extra money they'll get a superior product that functions better, lasts longer, looks better and has a better resale value.

    Well said.

The gempro 250 should never be used by anyone. There is actually a recall on them. If you have one and have your original recipt the company will give you a full refund. Just Google it and you can easily find out how to go about it. They don't even want the scale back.

I have the A&d fx120i and it's amazing, I really can't see anyone making anything better. I can't remember the exact price but there is a code somewhere and I think it was under $500. I'm waiting for the newest version of the powder dropper thing for it, it's so easy to add to the scale. Of course it's wayyy overkill for pistol stuff, I just use it for PRS /rifle stuff

    I couldn’t find anything about a recall?

    Thanks, yeah, I have a torque wrench.  10 ft/lbs right...  :)

I also reached out to them to see if they can mill my G41 for MOS plates.  I put an EGW plate on it that slides into the dove tail, but it's too high.  Not too many places seem to want to mill a G41, not sure why.  I figure I'll go with the MOS for variety since I already have a couple of spare Burris FF3 dots and the MOS plate for it.

Jagerwerks will, but there is a $20 up charge to install a SS plug in the slotted channel for proper screw engagement.

Stay as far away from triarc as you can.

Matt Cheely at Cheely Custom Guns doesnt do builds any longer, sucks too because he is with in an hour of me.

My recommendations would be Dan Heitzenrater at D2 Customs.

Don at Venom Customs is also an awesome guy.

The pics are of the "Tripple Threat" Dan just built me. 3 top ends on one lower. All 3 run like a top. He is in PA and Don at Venom is in TN

You want to elaborate more on Triarc?

  5. Looking for recommendations for a 1911 pistol smith. This would be a ground up build and not a refurbishment. I would like to find one reasonably close as I want to sit down and discuss this project.  Let’s keep it within a 4 hour drive of North Central Indiana

Like most people I had issues with 200gr swc in my glock .45’s. I found if I took the OAL as long as would fit in the mag I could get them to run pretty decent.

This is what I did.  I have G30 that would not shoot them for nothing. I extended the COAL and ran -1 in the mag or ran a G21 mag and no issues so far. Only 100 or so down range so not a true success story yet, but a move in the right direction.

  7. Follow up:  I just switched to loading some 38 special. I removed the RCBS sizing die and reinstalled the Dillon sizing die. I loaded 80 rounds with zero issues. The 357 brass is the issue as I wrote above, but I still feel the Dillon sizing die may have dimensional differences in different places. I know that sounds funny but every manufacturer has a design with dimensions and tolerances. It just so happens to be an issue with my situation.

  8. I have a 1987 Sig P226 with the mud rails. I installed new E2 grips on it but now the factory magazines won’t drop free.  I have a new Mec-Gar that drops easily with no issues . If I remove the E2 grip then the factory mags drop easily. Any suggestions, obviously it’s binding somewhere but I haven’t found it. Figured I’d walk away and inquire here.

  9. I love Bullseye, but I am curious to try some e3.  Thought about trying some WST but it’s limited to what I can use it for. How is e3 on multiple calibers?  This is what reload....9mm, 45acp, 38sp, 357mag, 44mag.

  10. I don’t disagree with you. They sent me a new die and the problem still exists. I sent both dies back to them along with a handful of brass. They said the carbide insert was slightly off. That means the new die they sent was the same...?  (Poor QC?). All I know is my original die they corrected and sent back to me still has the same issue.
I installed my RCBS sizing die...problem gone. Now in all fairness I think there is something else going on here that I haven’t quite figured out. I have a friend that has a Dillon 38/357 sizing die I am going to try. I’m also going to have him try mine on his press and see what happens.
I’ve switched to 45acp right now and will revisit at some time.
