Since my trip to Ontario had to be canceled this week I am really looking forward to this match. Hotel-check...Airline tickets-check...rental car-check...extra ammo-check...wife-injured but still hoped to make trip

Someone asked me what are the rules for traveling through Buffalo NY to Toronto with guns(mags)?
Should be the same as for crossing border anywhere. You will need paperwork from RCMP, including temporary gun permit and authorization to transport (ATT). Unloaded gun is locked in a case with trigger lock put on. All magazines must be permanently pinned to 10 rounds max.
I believe Roy Neal helped a few people from Detroit area to get the paperwork during last few years.
I have been to Canada before via Detroit with Roy a few times and understand those rules. The issue is traveling through NY to get to the border. Their mag rules are more stringent.
I have has issues at US Customs and one of my teamates had issues with NY State Police even before the Unsafe Act.

Roy has helped me. Make sure you register your guns at US Customs before taking over the border or you may have issues bringing them back. Be wary of US Customs and the Unsafe Act in New York.

I'm just a bit over the border in Rochester NY, I'm kinda toying with the idea of shooting a match in Canada this year. Between the firearms declaration and the authorization to transport, it does seem like a bit of a pain but I'm sure it would be tons of fun.
It is easy. New York is much more of a problem that our friends up north.
