  1. Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to seek permanent IT roles within the Austin, Texas area.

I have six years’ experience of working in IT. Five of which were 2nd-Line support roles. From my resume, I have been exposed to a wide variety of generic and niche applications and systems, including server work throughout. My current role is completely 3rd-Line server-based. A monumental responsibility I have been given has been to install updates into Production environments for brands such as CompareTheMarket.com, MoneySupermarket.com and GoCompare.com.

I have a compliment of 4 certifications including a Microsoft MCP and the vendor-neutral CompTIA Network+ and A+. My Licentiateship was awarded by London’s City & Guilds Institute. This was for work conducted at Ilmor Engineering/McLaren Mercedes. This was in the first year of my professional career. This included building a laptop for the Track Team that enabled David Coulthard to win the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix 2002. I have worked in environments such as financial institutions to race teams and media agencies.

As you can see from my resume attached, I am applying from the United Kingdom. I am ready to take a step down from my current position as my desire to make a life out in Austin far outweighs my need to continue to make a life in London. I believe due to the constant exposure to a wide range of technology, I would troubleshoot problems efficiently.

I have friends already in Austin. I am a big fan of the city, the South by Southwest Music Festival, and the Longhorns group. Last year, I visited San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and Corpus Christi. I believe I would enjoy the outdoor pursuits.

I have counsel who will be able to help with any visa applications.

I would ideally like to move to the US around September time. This would allow me to finish some obligations, here. However, I have been planning relocation for over 6 months that I can move within 2 months.

My preferred time for a phone call contact would be around 2PM EST (GMT-4).

I hope that you find my application unique and interesting enough to invite me to interview.

    Yours sincerely,

    IceDragon (real name in 'Profile')

  4. This one's probably for my friend, DJPolo, but...

Does anybody know of a sound recorder utility within Tiger or Leopard that allows you to record sounds via a microphone/built-in mircrophone. I've got a user asking for it, but i can't Google it or QuickFind it on the systems themselves.

Only results on Google tend to be 3rd-party, paid software.

    Thanks,

    Lab.

  5. Hi,

I've unexpectedly got a chance to go to the US, in a few months' time! I'm really excited, obviously. I've got a Foreign National Membership with the USPSA and I'm from the UK (and have UKPSA membership).

I'm looking to make the most of my time in the US, so am currently exploring possibilities of doing a Practical Shotgun/Rifle Safety Course during this time. Does anybody know if there's any courses in the Austin, Texas area? If not Austin, then in the state?

    Thanks,

    Lab. :)

  6. I think after the past few yrs, I am almost finally at peace. :) It rocked!!!! Anyone who knows me will know the importance of these films to me. So I'm glad this one was great. :)

I also love that cognitive awareness, level-headedness & decisiveness, too. It seemed to be pretty maxed-out at Waterloo station! :D My standout bits:-

    *Waterloo scene

*Foot chase in Tangiers ending in a fantastic hand-to-hand.

*Nicky and Bourne - hint of romance (such a tease of a strand!)

    Unintentional funny bits:-

    *Poor kid in blue hood

*Bourne opportunistically nickin the NYPD cop car and leaving the cop engaged in a gunfight with Paz/henchmen. -Classic! ;o)

I wanted them to link the point when Bourne's psychosis broke (seeing Wombosi's kids in Identity) with a past, trauma of his kids/family being killed. -Which would explain his almost subconscious ability to lookout for kids (Eamon's kids in Identity). Also, what was the ultimate reason that he joined Treadstone? We know he wanted to "save American lives". But why? What drove him to this? Death in family, friend in battle, etc? You know, maybe this is a deliberate plot hole.

-My English teacher used to teach us the importance of an open-ended story and how this leaves it open to deliberate interpretation for ourselves. :)

Here's some snaps of the main man himself at the UK Premier I went to in London, 15th August:-

    Enjoy!

  7. Hi guys,

I really don't like the range of PJs here in the UK. :( I do, however, love hospital scrubs. Can anyone tell me a good website to get them from?

-I'm specifically looking for the dark blue that was in ER in the 90s, etc. I think the ones I've got are blue teal (?) - and blue is too light for me.

Summer's hitting soon so I need to get a spare set now I've moved to London. :(

    Thanks,

    Lab.

  8. ...For the record: CompetitionDVD.com shot over 12 hours of footage at this year's Space City Challenge on six digital video cameras making this our biggest progect to date...My goal is one DVD release per month...Phew! It's gonna be a busy year!

Man, Dreamworks don't know what they're missing. B)

  9. Hi all,

I've recently got a Pentax Optio A20 on sale here in the UK. It's a 10 Megapixel camera but you can set it on any of the following levels:-

    10M (3648 x 2736)

    7M (3072 x 2304)

    5M (2592 x 1944)

    3M (2048 x 1536)

    2M (1600 x 1200)

    1024 (1024 x 768)

    640 (640 x 480)

Can someone tell me if I want to take pictures of cherish-able moments with family, friends, IPSC comps, etc, that I can later develop on 7x5 or 6x4 photos, which mode would be the best without chopping off arms, legs, heads, etc?

As an IT techie I can only relate megapixels with pixels from a screen or a printer. With digital photography: Am I right in thinking that the Megapixel measurement is purely just a measure of how many pixels there are. -The more the better the resolution and thus, more details are captured?

    Thanks,

    Lab. :)

  10. She did die, the girl they're showing is the girl he interrogated at the train station(?) in the second movie. Pamela Landy(?) used her to try and get to Streisand, I mean Bourne.

    Hey Sheldon! :)

Guys, I've got a theory or two on this one...

    1) Drifting and confusion between the real-world and the past.

-Concept was introduced in Supremacy. E.g. When he's got Pam Landy (Joan Allen) zeroed, "You killed 2 people, Bourne". Then his mind drifts between flashbacks trying to recall and link when he DID kill 2 other people in Berlin in the past and what just happened recently (the 2 that got killed present day). So naturally, as he's spending more time with Nicky (Julia Stiles), he starts seeing a bit of Marie (Franka Potente) in her.

    2) Marie never died.

Bourne decided to hide her furthermore until he took out the then current threat (Ward Abbott, Kirill et al.).

As well as a good story and dialogue, I'm still praying for multiple, unarmed takedowns. It's that MA side of me.

I still love the scene from Bourne Identity when he walks into the Embassy, takesdown 4-5 Marines, scales down the wall and walks off. Absolute c.l.a.s.s! ;)

What do you guys reckon? B)

    Lab.

  11. Hehehe, DirtyPool! - The 40 Year Old Virgin! Yay, another fan! :)

I loved the way they put that in the movie. Such a compliment! :)

Hmm .. Isn't his GF supposed to be dead ..?? WTF?

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. I reckon that's one less surprise now.

If Empire magazine is correct, then they're also gonna be reintroducing 'Project Blackbriar' which was Ward Abbott's last pitch to the Senate Oversight Committee in the closing sequence of Bourne Identity just before we were taken to Mykonos, Greece.

SO, looking forward to it now it's beyond belief!!! :)

  12. Guys,

    check it out!!!!

I've been scouring the Internet everywhere hoping to glimpse first sight of it. I missed it by 9 days. And here it finally is...

    http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/03/28/fir...trailer-debuts/

Step aside, Bond, let Bourne show you how Parkour's REALLY done. ;) Lovin' those unarmed takedowns, too!!! Looks like plenty of them, too.

    A very, very, very excited,

    Lab. :D

  13. Guys, I just wanna say: THANK YOU!

-I got my results back on Thursday and...I PASSED!

It was very borderline though. 80% was the pass mark and I got 80%. Hehehe. I've got 1 more month left on the probation period. So I'll be paying very close attention in everything that I do. Just hope it works out. :)

Big picture: a good friend left work the other day. She might not be coming back. I think I was more cut-up about this than my impending results, this week. :)

    Have a great weekend!

    Lab.
