I have an Open pistol from Dan. I had him configure it with an Aftec extractor and a Romeo 3 max red dot. I love it.

Woah, so CZ USA told you they have discontinued the TSO 40?? I know the regular TS was discontinued, but what's up with this?

If I am remembering correctly, he said "weak demand" was the reason. And many other companies serving that space. They are focusing on other products where the demand is high.

It was the gun. After sending it to CZ-USA the third time, the gunsmith said he found a defect. In his opinion it was there from day one, just not easily diagnosed. He said normally they would replace the pistol a new one, but could not because the .40 was discontinued. He gave me three options: 1) try to fix my .40, 2) replace with a TSO 9mm (not an option for me because I was using it in USPSA Limited Division), or 3) refund. I chose refund.
Prior to this I purchased a STI DVC Open to shoot USPSA Open Division. It's a great pistol, but today I would have made a different choice. Considering that STI discontinued the DVC Open with no replacement and the phenomenal service I received from CZ-USA I would go with the Czechmate. Also, CZ-USA is starting to manufacture in the US makes them a top choice for me.

I been shooting a STI DVC Open using Everglades 124 major since August 2019. I have had zero problems through 5,000 rounds. Chronograph readings were 168 and 167 when it was in the low 80's. And 165 when it was 42 degrees.

I would use JJR FMJ-Major, Black Dot, and Sellier & Bellot in my CZ TSO .40 because they all ran well with a 16# recoil spring. The front sight went up and came down right on target every time. CZ-USA will not warranty proper function of the pistol when using remanufactured ammo. They also recommend using the 16# recoil spring. Below is the PF of each ammo I tested with a chronograph.
New Ammo
Federal Syntech 205gr 176 PF (tumbling problems )
SIG Sauer Elite Performance 180gr 175 PF (expensive)
Sellier & Bellot 180gr 177 PF
Everglades FMJ 180gr 187 PF
Winchester White Box 180gr 188 PF
Remanufactured
JJR FMJ-Major 180 gr 172 PF
Black Dot 180gr 173 PF
Atlanta Select 180gr 175 PF

So did the 205 syntech clear up in your CZ?
No. I no longer use 205 Syntech. Too many keyholing problems. I am told by some that the combination of the CZ barrel and the low velocity of the 205 Snytech round contribute to the keyholing. I have experienced no keyholing with any other ammo.
I am having extraction and feeding problems with my CZ TSO .40. I am currently trying different factory and remanufactured factory brands of ammo. I am looking close at the PF of each. CZ-USA is advising me to only try different quality factory ammo. No reload or remanufactured. I am currently working with a gunsmith at CZ-USA. He's been terrific. I plan to follow his advice and report my findings to him. I will update this thread when and if I find one brand and have a few thousand rounds without any problems.
I personally know three people that have CZ TSO's. All say they have no problems with any ammo (factory, remanufactured, or reloaded). I am concerned that my TSO doesn't like any of the nine ammo brands I've tried so far.

Thanks, but I am shooting USPSA Limited Major. I did try Atlanta Arms .40 S&W 180gr JFP. No problem with tumbling, but the range on the velocity was wide.

Thanks, I guess it is the combination of CZ barrel and the low velocity Syntech. The keyholing occurred across multiple lot numbers.

I found the Syntech 205gr to be the softest on recoil. But I am getting many keyholes (tumbling) at all distances with my CZ TSO. Some reviews led me to believe it was a combination of the CZ barrel and the low velocity Syntech. After reading the comment from LMS in this thread about the same problem with a CK 5, I am now thinking it is more a velocity problem related to the ammo. I tried several other brands of 180gr and 165gr, including Federal products, with no problems.

I leave it on, but check it at "Make Ready" by hitting up brightness and down brightness to ensure it stays on during the stage.
