Thanks for the feedback and input. Is there a need for backup firing pins? Do they break or are they soft? I have a used one coming to me soon I bought off of this forums classifieds. Looking forward to trying it out.

Yes, get some spare parts.  We had a beautiful day here last weekend and I decided to clean my JP outside on the driveway preparing for match that weekend.   To fast forward, I removed the pin allowing the firing pin to drop and ended up loosing the small spring on the firing spring, so my JP is down right now as I wait on spring.  JP sells a nice complete kit (push pin, spring and new firing pin) and have three of them coming.  Personally, I'm going to change these small components out on all my competitive guns around Christmas time every year as "preventative maintenance".

Welcome aboard. This is the best forum online for gun lovers and game lovers! Joined a while back and always get awesome feedback and great advice for the most part. One warning for you, it will make you spend more money lol. Stay off the classifieds and you should be good to go!!

Thanks for the heads-up and good to know.  I made two additional purchases yesterday, so I better off the classified section for the next couple weeks, LOL..

  3. New to the forum and a lifelong outdoors guy, i.e., plinking, hunting, etc.  Over the past couple years, however, a friend turned me on to competitive shooting and I enjoy it tremendously.  Not surprising, I have found the folks at matches to be helpful, friendly and genuinely fine folks.  As for myself, I generally shoot in a match every weekend somewhere here in the Midwest and the “games” I enjoy are IDPA, USPSA and Action utilizing a range of guns, e.g., Glock 34, CZ Tactical Sport Orange and JP Enterprises GMR-15.  I hope to learn from contributors here and where possible offer some insight as well.

  4. I agree with the comments above and would add, you might set up some exercise drills with orange cones (moving side to side and back/forth) along with a hand stopwatch (record the times).  Depending on comfort level, you might try running them with an empty gun to develop those skills of moving while carrying.  As you begin to see improvements (you may need to do some jogging or walking, etc. along the way), then incorporate some targets along the way and work on pointing/transitioning (dry and ultimately live fire), and  keep up with the data.  Personally, I calculate the hit factor for all my runs and may be something worth trying as well.
