I went with a Bighorn TL3 and I would order one again in a heart beat. I could care less on degree of bolt throw, the things that I wanted were controlled round feed, ability to get shouldered pre-fit barrels, and easily swapped bolt heads. I have a .223 trainer barrel and a 6 creed match barrel, and I can swap them out at the range if I needed to. This allowed me to buy higher end components (trigger, optic, etc.) and just adjust the scope for different barrels. If you shoot out a barrel, order one from proof research and screw it on when it gets there. I am sure any of the other actions would work equally well.

Another benefit of ordering an action and assembling it yourself, is you can get a pork sword chassis and make an 8" .300 blk pistol.

The bighorn actions are really great. They put out an awesome product.

I am at a point in my life I would like to build a custom gun.  Just because.

I may never shoot a competition with it and it may never take it hunting, but it will see some range time.

I'm not asking what's the "best" because IMO that is subjective.

In no particular order, I'm considering the following:
    Terminus Zeus

    Seekins Havak

    Impact 737R

    Bighorn TL3

I plan to start with a 6.5 CM as I have a local range with 1000 yard lanes.

I want the ability to order a pre-fit shouldered barrel (no barrel nut, I do have Savages) and change it out myself if/when I need to.

I haven't decided on a stock or chassis but whichever I choose, I will want to use AICS style mags.  I may be able to pick up a Bergara HMR stock with detachable bottom metal for a good price.

I don't know if recoil lug thickness makes a difference.

I don't know if having a trigger hanger (or not) makes a difference with stock selection.

I don't understand what really differentiates the above actions from each other.

i just bought a 737 from impact, and the reason being is everyone chambers a prefit barrel for it. Manners chassis, action, action wrench and action vise from brownells, and you are gtg. Pick up a couple different barrels and send it.

  3. Just stumbled across this. Bought one at mil/vet discount price via eurooptic, and glad to see everyone likes it.

I know this is made overseas, but I think the dirty secret to even the RRS “made in the USA” is the fact that the carbon fiber is probably sourced overseas for All of it.

some people also think lefoto probably OEMs the vortex tripods.

im a vortex fan so I’m excited for this tripod to come in.

A couple years back I did a test where I compared accuracy between 2 loads.  I kept everything the same except one batch of 20 got the Lee Factory Crimp Die treatment.  The other batch of 20 didn’t get FCD’ed.

Turns out I had better accuracy with the batch that did NOT receive the FCD treatment.  So since then, the Lee FCD has been removed or omitted from my .223 toolheads.

so in my opinion, it really doesn’t matter where the case mouth ends up with respect to the cannelure (as long as the COAL = 2.250”) Neck tension gets dialed in with either a Lyman M die or a Redding Type S sizing die (no decapping rod/expander ball) with a neck bushing.

crimping rifle rounds with the lee fcd has ALWAYS given me accuracy issues out of my rifles. I don’t do it anymore. If you have good neck tension it’s a non issue even in autoloaders.

You can buy all of the CZUB factory upgrades from Armory Craft.

They barely have anything that fits the TS/TSO in stock on that site.

  6. Hi Everyone!

I am the now lucky owner of not one, but TWO CZ tactical sports .40 guns, (the oldish ones, not the new TSO).  I am looking to add magwells and grips to them like what's on the TSO.

What should I be looking for/using?  I know the TSO magwell and grip panels will fit, but I am going to have the guns cerakoted black, and want a black grip and magwell.

Who should I look at for magwells?

    Who for grips?

Who makes a good drop in metal trigger? (these are my 2nd and 3rd TS guns, so I know what I want here. )

    Thanks!
