  1. I have been looking for this conversation as well.  I am wanting to add the tungsten steel guide rod from springer precision but I have no idea what lb spring to buy.  I'm not committed to any specific bullet yet.  I've just been shooting the cheapest 115g I can find at walmart.  I am thinking about experimenting with the 13lb and 14lb springs on the springer precision website, or ordering some WOLFF springs which i read about earlier in this thread.  Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Last thing I want to do is cause undue wear on the gun from misconfiguration.

That didn’t do anything but I noticed the guide rod can be rotated.

I did it!  Rotated the guide rod clockwise which releases the slide and the fcu.

Can you hold the guide rod and tap the barrel gently with a rubber mallet back towards the rear of the slide?

Do you recall in what (incorrect) order you reassembled? So that the rest of us can make note not to do the same thing...

I dissembled the hand gun by removing the slide first, then I pulled out the take down lever, then I lifted the Trigger group up out of the grip for cleaning.  After cleaning everything I put the trigger group back in, then I slid the barrel back on without putting the takedown lever back first.

  5. edit:  updated situation - I was able to separate the barrel and the grip, now the slide is locked up with the trigger group.

  6. I have a situation.  I was cleaning the gun and reassembled it out of order.  Now I can't get the takedown lever inserted and i can't get the slide off of the gun.  Any advice?

  7. I got my X5 back from Sig today for the voluntary upgrade.  I measured the pulls and they were 3.5 - 3.8 lbs, the gun was very well lubricated and greased up.  I thought this was awesome because before I sent it off it was in the mid/high 5s.  Well in the meantime while waiting for the gun to get back I picked up gray guns competition trigger kit.  I just installed that with a lot of patience and youtube, then I averaged 5 pulls and now the gun is pulling low 2s.  I tried pulling from the center and from the end.  I'm worried this is too light.  This gun is just for 3-gun fun, and i am no Daniel Horner.

edit:  I did have a set of leftover springs in the kit, i'm wondering if they are a higher lb pull.

Just did more trigger work on mine. I am at about 3 lbs 10oz. I think I am stopping there.

What was your trigger pull out of the box?

  9. My x5 is shooting very low and a little to the left.  I've tried to adjust, I raised the rear sight up so much that the screw nearly came undone.  So I put the rear sight back down to where it is secured by two screw threads.  It still shoots low.  Now i'm contemplating replacing the dawson front sight with something that sits a little lower.  I think the dawson front sight is a #6, and i'm thinking a hiviz #8 will sit lower and allow the front of the gun to come up.

Also recently i've noticed my trigger has gotten heavier.  I've got 350-400 rounds through the gun and the trigger has definitely changed.

I've done nothing to the pistol except change the mag release button to accommodate a lefty.  I plan to order a tungsten steel guide rod and experiment with some springs but I want to get the gun on target first.

  10. Maybe I just got a good one then.  I'm not having any problems with this gun cycling shells.  I'm just entering my first 3 gun competition this month so i'm looking for ways to give myself the best chance to perform well, like reducing the recoil.  I saw that some people were swapping out the guide rod and the springs and I wasn't sure why.  I do think my X5 is shooting low and I need to adjust the rear sights.

  11. Can someone help me understand the benefits of changing out the guide rod and what kind of spring pounds I should be looking for if I want my X5 to be a flat shooter?
