Yes, that’s what I meant by “tool”. Paper clip, small Allen wrench or any other small item that I can drop on the ground about a dozen times before I get it in place. 

 

Dawson makes a tool less guide rod that I use in some other pistols but I’m not sure I can use one in my 5.4 inch bushing barrel. That was my question.

I just picked up a used SVI infinity and it came with the old style guide rod that you need to use a tool on for field stripping. 

 

Can I run the Dawson toolless guide rod without any fitting?

 

This pistol has a 5.4 inch traditional bushing barrel.
