  1. So the wife still hasnt tried the bullets i loaded for her. Ugh...  i did take them out a run over the chrony myself. Very mild recoil and even milder velocities only 460fps avg. Not sure this is even enough to expand 158gr xtps or penetrate a couple layers of denim. And no i didnt buy many only 250 plated and 100 xtp.

  2. Was so tired of the cheap lee balance beam that came with my press. I saw this at my local walmart, yes im one of the lucky few my local walmart has some loading equipment. So far about a 100 rounds loaded using this new powder thrower and only 1 over charge just dumped it back in the hopper and went again. Powders used so far have been win 231, lil gun, and imr 4895 all with superb results. Would highly recommend one of these units.

I have not used IMR4895 with 55's but it was my most accurate load with 69 Sierra's. Only problem is it does not meter worth beans on a Dillon powder measure.  I actually had squibs due to bridging in the powder measure so had to weigh each load. I have since changes to ball powders.

I use lee press and seems to be measuring with the autodisk within .2 gr avg after 10+ test.

  4. So according to my old speer reloading manual their most accurate load for 55gr fmjbt is 25.1 gr of imr4985. Has anyone tried this? My chrony should be here tomorrow so i plan to test it and some 38 special loads. Im hoping for nice low recoil load on both the 223 for 3 gun.

  5. I think i will try the win231 found a load at 3.8 gr 661 fps should be fairly mild the max load is 4.3 gr at 779 fps so it has a decent window. What i am seeing for clays doesnt have its 3.0 gr at 633 fps min max of 3.1 gr at 721 fps. I know that seems wrong but what the book says.

Actually not sure if those are minimums it says starting load.

  6. Wife decided as her first firearm she wanted the S&W 637 snub nose. She decided it was most comfortable in her hand. Im good with that, your more apt to shoot what your comfortable with.

Now my problem, i dont load 38 special.

After some reading the non adjustable sights on the 637 are set for 158 gr bullets, so i ordered some rmr plated for her to practice with and some hornady hollow point XTP as carry/protection rounds.

My wife is rather small and would like a good reduced recoil load to make her more comfortable. Want to make the plated and xtp feel and shoot the same also.

Any and all help with powders that should be readily available would be much appreciated.

    I load for 9mm, 243, 308, and 500 s&w mag currently. Im adding 38 and 223 currently.

    Thank you all in advance.

  7. Went to the range this week again with my bone stock tp9sf. I am so amazed at this pistol. I was able to hold 5" 18 shot group at 20 yard and hold 14 of 18 on full size siloette at 50 yards. Yes 50 yards! Free hand no bench rest tested. I am simply amazed!! Need to state also I am not what I would consider a good shot with a pistol. My friend in town from Germany (former German army sniper) did slightly better than me and said he likes the canik as well or better than his g17.

Did you have any problem getting the lifter kit installed into the Girsan 312? I am having a bit of an issue getting it to function, as its too tight.

I had to file the back edge of the tti lifter to make clearance between the trigger assembly and the lifter gate. I had some issues with light strikes and fte initially found the when the gun shop installed the extension tube they didn't cut enough off the original tube so the barrell was able to move in and out about a 1/16", since fixing that gun runs flawless.
